Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

New approach of friction model and identification for hydraulic system based on MAPSO-NMDS optimization Elman neural network

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Hydraulic system smoothness is critical to product quality and position tracking. However, the nonlinear friction is an important factor causing unstable phenomenon of the hydraulic system when at low speed.

Identification of the Dynamic Parameters of a Parallel Kinematics Mechanism with Prismatic Joints by Considering Varying Friction

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This study proposed a novel approach for the offline dynamic parameter identification of parallel kinematics mechanisms in which the friction is significant and varying.

Tribological Performance of 60NiTi Alloy Under Varying Contact Conditions and Elevated Temperatures in Linear Reciprocating Sliding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐

A generalized friction law depicting the thermal effects at chemical bonding interface

open access: yesFriction
Non-empirical law depicting how atomic-scale friction behaves is crucial for facilitating the practical design of tribosystems. However, progress in developing a practically usable friction law has stagnated because atomic-scale friction arises from the ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Data Assimilation Analysis of Rate- and State-Dependent 1-DOF Friction Based on a Particle Filter

open access: yesTribology Online
In various dynamic systems, accurately predicting frictional stick–slip motion is critical for maintaining stability. To address this issue, we integrated a particle filter with a rate- and state-dependent friction model to enhance the prediction of ...

Study of longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The subject of research is the longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners. A model of the fibrous layer between the rotor and stator is developed. It is shown that it is advisable to use the Maxwell-Thomson model for liquid friction of the rotor and ...

Static Friction Phenomena in Granular Materials: Coulomb Law vs. Particle Geometry

open access: yes, 1993
The static as well as the dynamic behaviour of granular material are determined by dynamic {\it and} static friction. There are well known methods to include static friction in molecular dynamics simulations using scarcely understood forces.

Advances On Lugre Friction Model

open access: yes, 2013
LuGre friction model is an ordinary differential equation that is widely used in describing the friction phenomenon for mechanical systems. The importance of this model comes from the fact that it captures most of the friction behavior that has been observed including hysteresis.
