Casimir Friction Force and Energy Dissipation for Moving Harmonic Oscillators
The Casimir friction problem for a pair of dielectric particles in relative motion is analyzed, utilizing a microscopic model in which we start from statistical mechanics for harmonically oscillating particles at finite temperature moving ...

Membrane Wrapping for High Capacity and Rapidly Switchable Adhesives
A membrane‐wrapping mechanism enables high‐capacity, rapidly switchable adhesion by coupling suction, friction, and adhesion. Broadband performance is achieved in dry and underwater conditions, allowing fast, reversible manipulation of objects of diverse sizes and shapes, from delicate eggs and berries to flat, complex, or heavy objects. These outcomes

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Complex heat exchange in brake friction pairs
In the article, the following issues are considered: general principles of complex heat transfer in friction pairs of brake devices; radiant heat exchange from the rough surfaces of the metal friction elements of the brakes; the combined action of the fields of thermal conductivity and radiation in the metal friction elements of the brakes. The role of

Pulse-contact frictional interaction of microprotrusions of friction pairs of brake devices
Abstract The article materials disclose contact-impulse frictional interaction of microprotrusions of friction pairs of strip-block brakes, based on the principles of the gradient theory of electric and thermal fields. The effect of “transistor” was applied by selecting friction pairs of the brake to reduce their energy loading, and as a
