Expression of frog virus 3 early genes after ultraviolet irradiation

Virology, 1982
Abstract The synthesis of early gene products was studied in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells infected with FV 3 virions irradiated with various doses of uv light. The transcription of the immediate early units, occurring in the presence of cycloheximide, was analyzed by quantitation of the polypeptides synthesized after drug removal, pulse labeled ...

Murine Hepatitis Induced by Frog Virus 3 (FV3)

1989
In the course of a virus infection of the liver, hepatocellular damage may result either directly from the replication of virus particles in the parenchymal cells, as is the case in mouse hepatitis, (Bang and Warwick, 1959) or indirectly from the effect of immunological factors in response to an antigenic virus-induced transformation of the hepatocyte ...

Macromolecular synthesis in cells infected by frog virus 3 XI. A ts mutant of frog virus 3 that is defective in late transcription

Virology, 1979
Abstract A ts mutant (ts 9467) of frog virus 3 (FV3) does not synthesize late viral RNAs or proteins, although it does synthesize viral DNA. We have analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis the RNAs and proteins produced in ts 9467-infected cells to determine the requirements for turning on late transcription. The electrophoretic pattern of the

The DNA-Methylase of Frog Virus 3

1990
The DNA of frog virus 3 (FV3) replicates in two stages. During the first stage, genome sized DNA is synthesized in the nucleus of infected cells. This is followed by a second stage of DNA replication in the cytoplasm where concatemeric viral DNA is synthesized. FV3 DNA is methylated in the cytoplasm by a virus-coded DNA-methylase.

Frog virus 3 induces a fatal hepatitis in rats.

Laboratory investigation; a journal of technical methods and pathology, 1981
To define its pathogenesis, the acute degenerative hepatitis caused by frog virus 3 (FV3) has been reproduced in the rat, thus facilitating a greater number of biologic explorations than in the mouse. The histologic and ultrastructural study proves a massive hepatocellular necrosis perfectly compatible with the fatal outcome of the illness 30 hours ...
