Cross‐site harmonization of diffusion MRI data without matched training subjects

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 94, Issue 4, Page 1750-1762, October 2025.
Abstract Purpose Diffusion MRI (dMRI) data typically suffer of significant cross‐site variability, which prevents naively performing pooled analyses. To attenuate cross‐site variability, harmonization methods such as the rotational invariant spherical harmonics (RISH) have been introduced to harmonize the dMRI data at the signal level.

Predicting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Mortality With Machine Learning in Diverse Patient Databases

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, Volume 72, Issue 4, Page 653-661, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Predicting mortality in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) guides personalized care and clinical trial optimization. Existing statistical and machine learning models often rely on baseline or diagnosis visit data, assume fixed predictor‐survival relationships, lack validation in non‐Western populations, and depend on features ...

Identifying interactions between TDP‐43's N‐terminal and RNA‐binding domains

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract TAR DNA‐binding Protein 43 kilodaltons (TDP‐43) plays a crucial role in the pathophysiology and progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, affecting familial and sporadic cases. TDP‐43 is an intrinsically disordered multidomain protein that consists of an N‐terminal domain (NTD1–102), two tandem RNA recognition motifs (RRM1102–177 and ...

Risk of Dementia After Electroconvulsive Therapy: A Cohort Study on the Population of Wales

open access: yesActa Psychiatrica Scandinavica, Volume 152, Issue 4, Page 270-277, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is the most effective therapy for severe or treatment‐resistant depression. A common short‐term side effect is memory problems, and it is important to know whether ECT increases the risk for dementia later in life.

Adherence to four dietary indices and the risk of all‐cause and cause‐specific dementia: Findings from the UK Biobank study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 10, Page 5612-5621, October 2025.
Abstract Aims Despite several modifiable risk factors for dementia being identified, diet is often excluded from consideration due to insufficient evidence. Although various healthy dietary indices have been associated with improved health outcomes, their link to dementia risk remains unclear.
