Determination of Late Spring Frost Affections on Some Grape Varieties Grown in Samsun

open access: yesTürkiye Tarımsal Araştırmalar Dergisi, 2014
Determining the climatic factors of viticultural areas have great importance. The late spring frost cause significant amount of economic losses in some years in many of areas. In March and April of 2014 has experienced frost damage in many parts of our

An Analytical Solution for the Frost Heaving Force considering the Freeze-Thaw Damage and Transversely Isotropic Characteristics of the Surrounding Rock in Cold-Region Tunnels

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Frost damage is a frequent occurrence in cold regions and can threaten the normal use and structural stability of tunnel engineering projects. To accurately determine the frost heaving force and effectively evaluate the frost damage in cold-region ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

「北海道開拓の村」の歴史的建造物の壁面劣化調査 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Historical stone buildings and traditional Japanese buildings with earthen walls suffer from frost damage in the Historical Village of Hokkaido. It can be said that there are three factors for frost damage: temperature, water content and properties of ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Variation in flower frost tolerance among seven apple cultivars and transcriptome response patterns in two contrastingly frost-tolerant selected cultivars

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences
This study evaluated frost tolerance in flowers of seven major apple cultivars grown in Korea to develop frost-resistant varieties for sustainable apple production under climate change. Flowers at full bloom were exposed to simulated frost conditions at −

Concrete Pavement Mixture Design and Analysis (MDA): Assessment of Air Void System Requirements for Durable Concrete, TPF-5(205), 2012 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Concrete will suffer frost damage when saturated and subjected to freezing temperatures. Frost-durable concrete can be produced if a specialized surfactant, also known as an air-entraining admixture (AEA), is added during mixing to stabilize microscopic ...

Frost and Forest Stand Effects on the Population Dynamics of Asplenium scolopendrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Our objective was to analyze which factors are critical for the dynamics of terrestrial Asplenium scolopendrium populations at the northern edge of its distribution.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
