The Stellar Population Histories of Early-Type Galaxies. II. Controlling Parameters of the Stellar Populations

open access: yes, 2000
We analyze single-stellar-population (SSP) equivalent parameters for 50 local elliptical galaxies as a function of their structural parameters. These galaxies fill a two-dimensional plane in the four-dimensional space of [Z/H], log t, log $\sigma$, and ...

Experimental study on the operating performance of the air source heat pump (ASHP) with variable outdoor airflow rate under the standard frosting condition

open access: yesEnergy and Built Environment
Frosting is a common phenomenon of the ASHP under the heating mode in winter, and the outdoor air flow rate flowing through the evaporator of the ASHP was always thought to be a major contributor. In order to validate its contribution, effects of outdoor

Star Formation Histories of Nearby Elliptical Galaxies. II. Merger Remnant Sample [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This work presents high $S/N$ spectroscopic observations of a sample of six suspected merger remnants, selected primarily on the basis of H{\sc i} tidal debris detections.

The Age of Ellipticals and the Color-Magnitude Relation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Using new narrowband color observations of early-type galaxies in clusters, we reconstruct the color-magnitude relation (CMR) with a higher degree of accuracy than previous work.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Effect of Different Parameters on Frosting of Evaporator in Frost-free Refrigerator

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2008
The experiment was conducted to investigate the frosting performance of a finned-tube evaporator used in the storage room of a frost-free refrigerator. The frosting process lasted 6-8 hours. The effects of the frontal air velocity, inlet air humidity and

Fabrication and Frosting Properties Study of Surface-Active Agents Coating Based on Nanoporous Aluminum Substrate

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In order to solve the frosting and blockage problem of an air conditioning evaporator’s fin in winter, the nanoporous aluminum plates with low surface energy has been proposed in this paper, which are fabricated by an anodizing method and then ...

Simulating the Performance of a Heat Exchanger During Frosting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Factors affecting frost distribution are explored using a finite element model, developed and validated using a full-scale 8-row heat exchanger in a wind tunnel.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

FROST

open access: yesACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, 2020
The facility relocation (FR) problem, which aims to optimize the placement of facilities to accommodate the changes of users’ locations, has a broad spectrum of applications. Despite the significant progress made by existing solutions to the FR problem, they all assume each user is stationary and represented as a single point ...
