Gut microbiota‐stem cell niche crosstalk: A new territory for maintaining intestinal homeostasis

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Intestinal stem cells (ISCs) are protected by their niche and are regulated by Wnt, bone morphogenetic protein, and Notch. ISCs and their relationship with intestinal microbiota provide a feasible pathway to alleviate intestinal diseases. Diverse bacteria‐related postbiotics regulate ISCs and maintain their homeostasis.

Valorization of Humins by Cyclic Levulinic Acid Production Using Polyoxometalates and Formic Acid

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
In this work, a new catalytic route for the effective utilization of humin byproducts, enabling a cyclic synthesis of levulinic acid (LA) using formic acid (FA) as organocatalyst is proposed. Selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) of humins using the H5PV2Mo10O40 (HPA‐2) polyoxometalatecatalyst produces FA that can be isolated from the aqueous reaction ...

Metabolite profiling of human‐originated Lachnospiraceae at the strain level

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
The human‐originated Lachnospiraceae biobank included 77 species was constructed. In vitro metabolite profiling of 110 Lachnospiraceae strains yielded 242 metabolites of 17 categories. Many Lachnospiraceae strains produce short‐chain fatty acids, and Agathobacter rectalis strain Lach‐101 and Coprococcus comes strain NSJ‐173 are the top two butyric acid

Aminosulfonated Graphene as a Catalyst for Efficient Production of Biodiesel from Fatty Acids and Crude Vegetable Oils

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
The covalent integration of amino and sulfonate groups on the graphene surface significantly enhances activity in acid‐catalyzed reactions, such as in biodiesel production and dehydration of saccharides. Developing such heterogeneous, recyclable catalysts is vital, as acid catalysis represents one of the most general and versatile strategies in organic

Dietary fiber chemical structure determined gut microbiota dynamics

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
The monosaccharide composition and glycosidic bond configuration determine the CAZyme that could hydrolyze it. Thus, bacteria encoding specific CAZyme utilize different structured dietary fibers. Compounded with bacterial interaction, gut microbiota dynamics is synergistically modulated.
