Biological Control of Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Argentina: Releases of Diachasmimorpha longicaudata (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) in Fruit-Producing Semi-Arid Areas of San Juan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly), Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) is one of the major pests of fruit crops in Argentina and it is a phytosanitary barrier to the export of fresh fruits.

Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Field Evaluation of Herbicides on Small Fruit, Vegetable, and Ornamental Crops, 1997 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Growers generally use herbicides to efficiently produce high-quality fruit and vegetables for processing or fresh market sales. Due to the smaller acreage of these crops compared to major field crops, fewer herbicides are registered for use in fruit and ...

Miniaturized 3D Magnetic Force Sensor via Laser‐Assisted Folding and Magnetization for Enhanced Robotic Dexterity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To achieve 3D force sensing in confined spaces such as fingertips, we developed a laser‐assisted folding and magnetization method to fabricate miniature films with precise centripetal magnetization. The resulting compact sensor delivers high force resolution, rapid response, and long‐term stability, significantly enhancing the manipulation capabilities

3D‐Printed Metal‐Supported MOF‐Heteropoly Acid Nanozyme for High‐Performance Peroxidase‐Mimic Activity and Ultra‐Sensitive Glucose Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured Fe‐BTC‐PMA immobilized 3D‐printed platform is engineered as a robust artificial enzyme for colorimetric glucose sensing. The hybrid architecture efficiently activates H2O2 to drive TMB oxidation. This integrated system enables sensitive, reusable, and scalable detection with enhanced catalytic stability and analytical ...

Economics of Organic Top Fruit Production (OF0305) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Of all the organic food sectors in the UK, top fruit is one of the least developed. Despite strong consumer demand and high prices for organic fruit there are, at present, only a handful of commercial organic dessert apple and pear growers.

Plant‐Derived Melatonin Inhibits Bacterial Virulence via CpxA/R Two‐Component System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐derived melatonin is sensed by CpxAE48/T51, which inhibits the phosphorylation cascade transmission from CpxAH240 to CpxRD52, resulting in the inhibition of DNA‐binding capacity of CpxR and subsequent T3SS genes expression in Pst DC3000. ABSTRACT In defending against pathogens, plants deploy diverse secondary metabolites and signaling molecules ...
