Ruminant meat is widely appreciated for its distinctive flavor. Lipids play a central role in influencing meat flavor, yet their genetic and biochemical basis remains largely unexplored. Here, a comprehensive lipid genetic map of sheep muscle is constructed and 20 candidate genes potentially modulating lipid levels are identified to provide a roadmap ...

Physico-chemical characteristics of Chok Anan mango fruit after hot water treatment [PDF]
Mango fruit is prone to postharvest disease, especially anthracnose and stem end rot. Hot water dip (HWD) treatment has been used to control postharvest disease in fruit but little information about the response of Chok Anan mango fruit towards HWD ...

Nitric oxide on/off in fruit ripening
AbstractFruit ripening is a complex physiological process involving significant external and internal modifications. Classic edible fleshy fruits have been classified as climacteric or non‐climacteric according to their dependence on the phyto hormone ethylene; however, data have increasingly confirmed the involvement of the free radical nitric oxide ...

Hyperelastic Starch Hydrogel Configures Edible and Biodegradable All‐Components for Soft Robots
Hyperelastic starch hydrogel is tailored via a phase separation strategy of solvent‐antisolvent co‐modulation. The mechanical performance of starch hydrogel is widely tuned with maximum strains: 194.4–361.4%; maximum tensile stresses: 34–192 kPa; and Young's moduli: 36.0–205.8 kPa. Notably, the hydrogel achieves complete soil degradation within 24 days

Evidence of acidic Invertase as control step of sucrose level during ripening of two diploid banana fruit [PDF]
We previously shown that diploid dessert cultivars accumulate more sucrose during ripening on plant than diploid cooking cultivars, and that Acid Invertase (AIV) might be in this case important by correlating the ratio sucrose / glucose + fructose of ...

Molecular and Genetic Regulation of Sensory Quality of Climacteric Fruit [PDF]
The sensory quality of fruit has become a major criterion in making the purchasing decision by consumers. Breeding programs have mainly been directed, from the post-harvest stand point, towards improving shelf-life.

Roles of RIN and ethylene in tomato fruit ripening and ripening‐associated traits
Summary RIPENING INHIBITOR (RIN)‐deficient fruits generated by CRISPR/Cas9 initiated partial ripening at a similar time to wild‐type (WT) fruits but only 10% WT concentrations of carotenoids and ethylene (ET) were synthesized.
