Mechanical Thinning of Pecan Fruit
HortScience, 1990Fruit of `Mohawk' in 1986 and 1988 and `Shoshoni' pecan [Carya illinoensis (Wangenh.) C. Koch] in 1986 were thinned during early August using a pecan shaker with modified shaker pads. Fruit removed ranged from 44% to 57% of the crop load. Fruit thinning increased nut size of `Mohawk' in both years, but did not affect nut size of `Shoshoni'.

Plant Growth Regulation, 2000
The present review deals with the importance of fruit thinning in peach. The date of treatment, the severity and the criteria underlying the practiceare discussed. Methods of fruit thinning are described, with particularemphasis on the use of chemical treatment as an alternative to handthinning. Strategies for chemical thinning are advanced.

MODELING OF APPLE CHEMICAL FRUIT THINNING
"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series ", 2023Crop load management in intensive apple orchards must be done precisely to produce a high yield with marketable fruit size. It also ensures the formation of flower buds on the tree for the next season and prevents alternative bearing. In addition to pruning, flower and fruit thinning is another management method that has a major impact on crop yield ...

ROLE OF FRUIT THINNING ON APPLE FRUIT QUALITY
2021Quality fruit production possesses many cultivation activities to get marketable fruit worldwide as well in Uzbekistan. In this review study, we discussed ways for quality apple production with fruit thinning. Fruit thinning activities already had been examined by scientists with thinning methods and on several apple cultivars.

Fruit thinning plums and apricots
Plant Growth Regulation, 2000The need for crop load reduction to improve fruit size andconsistency of cropping on plum and apricot trees is discussed. Threealternative strategies of achieving this objective are described: byinhibition of flowering, prevention of fruit set or stimulation ofincreased fruitlet abscission.

Effect of Fruit Thinning on ‘Hosui’ Pear Fruit Quality and Yield
Bhutanese Journal of Agriculture, 2021In Bhutan, naturally occurring local type of pears were grown. Asian or Nashi pears are recent introduction which have become quite popular in eastern Bhutan since it was promoted by Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC) Wengkhar. Although, horticulture has been gaining momentum in recent years, many growers in Bhutan follow traditional ...

Fruit thinning and quality: exploring new chemical solutions
Acta Horticulturae, 2020Apple fruit thinning is still an essential technique despite the fact that the apple fruit industry is continuously evolving in terms of new cultivars, new high-density planting orchards and training system. Also, in the last years new chemical thinners have been put on the market requiring specific protocols to reduce the risk for the grower and gain ...

In order to overcome alternate bearing problems with cv. Elstar apple trees in the Rhine region, a two-year (1995-1996) field trial was conducted at Ahrweiler experimental station. Cv. Elstar apple trees were thinned either by hand, amid-thin or ethephon. The recommendations derived from the results are a) one application of [amid-thin (0.08%) + Ethrel
