Value of the fT3/fT4 ratio and its combination with the GRACE risk score in predicting the prognosis in euthyroid patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: a prospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2018
Background Thyroid hormones deeply influence the cardiovascular system; however, the association between the fT3/fT4 ratio and the clinical outcome in euthyroid patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Without Anemia Presenting With Delayed Orthostatic Hypotension in an Adolescent: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The orthostatic hypotension caused by vitamin B12 deficiency is extremely rare in young individuals. The serum vitamin B12 and anti‐intrinsic factor antibody levels of young patients with orthostatic hypotension should be evaluated regardless of the presence of anemia, and vitamin B12 administration should be promptly initiated.

Explainable Machine Learning With Hybrid Feature Selection for Thyroid Disease Classification: A Case Study in Bangladesh

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
Our research establishes a hybrid feature selection and ensemble machine learning pipeline for the classification of euthyroid, hyperthyroid, hypothyroid, and subclinical hypo‐ and hyperthyroid disorders. Variance Threshold with Backward Feature Elimination attained nearly 100% accuracy, while SHAP and LIME clarified the significance of features and ...

Declining free thyroxine levels over time in irradiated childhood brain tumor survivors

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2018
Objective: The incidence of cranial radiotherapy (cRT)–induced central hypothyroidism (TSHD) in childhood brain tumor survivors (CBTS) is reported to be low. However, TSHD may be more frequent than currently suspected, as its diagnosis is challenging due

SGLT2 Inhibition Attenuates Hippocampal Injury and Cognitive Impairment in Adult‐Onset Hypothyroidism

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
Empagliflozin alleviates hypothyroidism‐induced cognitive and locomotor impairments in rats. By suppressing oxidative stress and neuroinflammation, it restores hippocampal CREB/nNOS signaling pathways, reducing anxiety and improving learning and memory deficits caused by propylthiouracil. ABSTRACT Thyroid hormones play a critical role in the maturation

Association between oxidative balance score and thyroid function and all-cause mortality in euthyroid adults

open access: yesScientific Reports
Abnormal fluctuations in thyroid function within the reference range were strongly associated with increased all-cause mortality. This study aimed to analyze the association between oxidative balance score (OBS) and free thyroxine (FT4) and thyrotropin ...

Clinical and Echocardiographic Factors Associated With AI‐Estimated Atrial Fibrillation Likelihood During Sinus Rhythm in Patients With Documented Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
Among patients with documented paroxysmal atrial fibrillation assessed during sinus rhythm, lower AF likelihood assignment by AI‐ECG was not uncommon. Hypertension and higher left ventricular mass index were inversely associated with assignment to the higher AF likelihood group, whereas mild or greater tricuspid regurgitation showed a possible positive
