FTO Gene Polymorphisms Influence Neuroblastoma Susceptibility in Chinese Children

2023
Background Neuroblastoma (NB) is a malignancy of neural crest cells that typically occurs in children. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the fat mass and obesity associated ( FTO) gene, a well-conserved gene, are related to tumorigenesis. However, there is a lack of evidence regarding the relationship between FTO gene SNPs and NB susceptibility.

Effects of fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene polymorphisms on binge eating in women with binge-eating disorder: The moderating influence of attachment style.

Nutrition (Burbank, Los Angeles County, Calif.), 2019
OBJECTIVES The genetics of binge-eating disorder (BED) is an emerging topic and one candidate pathway, namely the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene, may be implicated because of its role in food reward sensitivity and self-regulation of eating ...

Genetic effects of FTO gene insertion/deletion (InDel) on fat-tail measurements and growth traits in Tong sheep

Animal Biotechnology, 2019
Tong sheep is a kind of famous fat-tailed sheep in China, which no longer meets market demands because of the large amount of fat deposition in tail. Fat mass and obesity associated (FTO) gene regulates fatty acid transport and fat metabolism to affect ...

Association analysis of FTO gene polymorphisms with obesity in Greek adults.

Gene, 2017
Nowadays, obesity is the greatest scourge worldwide, particularly for the developed countries and is a huge burden for the public health. Over the past decade, GWAS have revealed a number of genes associated with obesity. The fat mass and obesity associated (FTO) gene was the first one associated with obesity in a significant number of populations and ...

Association of obesity with rs1421085 and rs9939609 polymorphisms of FTO gene

Molecular Biology Reports, 2014
The aim of this study is to investigate the genetic influence of polymorphisms in fat mass and obesity associated (FTO) gene on a sample of obese subjects and controls. Obesity is an epidemic all over the world. Several polymorphisms in the first intron of FTO gene have been associated with common forms of human obesity.

FTO Gene Polymorphisms and Platelet Counts in a General Japanese Population

Journal of Investigative Medicine, 2012
The fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene has recently attracted attention as one of the obesity-related genes. Obesity-related gene polymorphisms may be associated with the development of atherothrombosis in relation to platelets. The present study investigated the association between FTO gene polymorphisms (rs1558902, T/A) and hematological ...
