FTTH networks deployment in Slovenia
2009 11th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2009This paper presents the bringing of optical fibre to domestic users in the Republic of Slovenia. Slovenia has two main Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) providers, deploying access network infrastructure based on Point to Point (P2P) fibre links. In recent years, accelerated deployment of the optical access network and the consequent increase in the number of ...

Asia Optical Fiber Communication and Optoelectronic Exposition and Conference, 2008
By mid 2008 the number of FTTH and FTTB connections exceeded 33 million. The majority of deployments have been Ethernet point-to-point and GEPON. There has been a small amount of WDM-PON deployed and now GPON is starting to take off. This presentation will take a look at the current status and what the future holds for FTTH deployments.

Optical fibers for FTTH application
SPIE Proceedings, 2013In this paper the specifics of FTTH (Fiber To The Home) networks in terms of requirements for optical fibers has been presented. Optical fiber samples used in FTTH applications acquired from the worldwide leading manufacturers were subjected to small diameter mandrel wraps tests.

FTTH - A promising broadband technology
Proceedings. 2005 International Conference on Communications, Circuits and Systems, 2005., 2005With the extraordinary increase of bandwidth requirement nowadays, service providers are compelled to push fiber deeper into the access networks in order to be able to offer the emerging services that customers are demanding. Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks have always been the ultimate solution to a future broadband access network.

ABSTRACT The ultimate solution to the access botfieneck is to extend the fiber all the way to the home or office. Having in mind the Capex expenditure for an optical network deployment, a good approach is to share the enormous capacity offiber among a group of subscribers.

Research on the application of softswitch in FTTH
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Fiber to the home (FTTH) is the technology orientation that people have continuously pursued and explored for 20 years, and it is beginning to make significant strides in the field of high-speed broadband access to the Internet. Due to the carriers' competition, the price of optical devices reduced gradually, FTTH develops very quickly.

The uncaptured value of FTTH networks
2011 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2011Network evaluation is tricky but essential business for anyone considering network deployment. The network value for an operator consists of the potential accumulated revenue stream, typically in the form of monthly subscription from users. It is common knowledge (and a matter of simple maths), that the deployment costs can hardly be covered by ...
