Resonance with respect to the Fučík spectrum

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2000
The authors study the existence of solutions for nonlinear equations of the form \(Lu = \alpha u^{+} - \beta u^{-} + f(\cdot,u),\) where \(L: \operatorname {dom} L \subset L^{2}(\Omega,\mathbb R) \rightarrow L^{2}(\Omega,\mathbb R)\) is a selfadjoint linear operator, \(\Omega\) is a bounded open subset of \(\mathbb R^{N}\), and the equation \(Lu ...

A global characterization of the Fučík spectrum for a system of ordinary differential equations

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 2007
The authors consider the Fučik spectrum for a system of second order ordinary differential equations with Dirichlet or Neumann boundary values. By the implicit function theorem, they give a local description of the Fučik spectrum and then they deduce a global one.

On the Fucik Spectrum for Equations with Symmetries

open access: yes, 2011
An overview over some aspects of the Fucik spectrum are given, in particular in the situation when the problem is invariant under some compact group action. Some recent results concerning the complexity of the Fucik specturm are discussed, and some open problems are studied.

On the Fucik spectrum for elliptic systems

open access: yes, 2015
We propose an extension of the concept of Fucik spectrum to the case of coupled systems of two elliptic equations, we study its structure and some applications.

On the Fucik spectrum of the p-Laplacian

open access: yes, 2015
We prove the existence of a first non-trivial curve in the Fucik spectrum of the p-Laplacian. This yields in particular a variational characterization of the second eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian by a mountain pass procedure.

A variational characterization of the Fucík spectrum and applications

open access: yes, 2010
Summary: We characterize the Fucík spectrum [\textit{S. Fucík}, Čas. Pěst. Mat. 101, 69--87 (1976; Zbl 0332.34016)] of a class selfadjoint operators. Our characterization relies on Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction arguments. We use this characterization to establish the existence of solutions for a semilinear wave equation.

Asymmetric elliptic problems in $R^N$

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
We work on the whole $R^N$ and prove the existence of a first nonprincipal eigenvalue for an asymmetric problem with weights involving the p-Laplacian. As an application we obtain a first nontrivial curve in the corresponding Fucik spectrum.

Discrete analogue of Fučik spectrum of the Laplacian

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1999
The Fučík spectrum of the Laplacian with a Dirichlet boundary condition \((-\Delta u=\alpha u^+-\beta u^-)\) and the discrete analog of the Fučík spectrum for the matrix \(A\) \((M\)-matrices) are considered. This analog has properties similar to those of the continuum.
