Examination of total cross section resonance structure of niobium and silicon in neutron transmission experiments

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The neutron transmission experiments are one of the main sources of information about the neutron cross section resonance structure and effect in the self-shielding. Such kind of data for niobium and silicon nuclides in energy range 7 keV to 3 MeV can be

Evaluation of natural radioactivity in Tehran’s water using the gross alpha and beta measurements [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Water and Wastewater, 2021
Consumption and drinking of healthy and high-quality water is considered an important matter in human life, so monitoring of drinking water pollution including radioactive contamination and assessing the amount of radiation exposure of people through ...

Analysis of Variance for Item Differences in Verification Data with Unknown Groups

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, 2019
For sequentially collected data, this paper introduces a lag-one differencing method to estimate the random error standard deviation δR and then uses the estimate δ^R to calculate a change detection threshold in a moving window method to detect shifts in

Recycling of zinc ions in disc-donut column considering forward mixing mass transfer, and effects of pulsed and non-pulsed condition

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The current study focuses on the recovery of zinc ions by solvent extraction in the pulsed contactor. The Zn(II) ions from chloride solution were extracted into the organic phase containing di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) extractant.

Application of Grey-Taguchi method for optimizing acid leaching step in Zircon alkali fusion process [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم و فنون هسته‌ای, 2020
Alkali fusion with NaOH is the most commonly used method for the extraction of zirconium from zircon sand. In the alkali fusion process, the acid leaching step has a great influence on the zirconium recovery and purity of the final product. In this study,

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Stability of Tungsten Crucible against Uranium, Rare Earth, Cadmium, and Chlorides for Cathode Process in Pyroprocessing

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, 2019
The stability of W against U, rare-earth (RE) elements, Cd, and various chlorides was evaluated by melting and distillation testing. Three runs were performed with a W crucible to examine its reactivity: (i) RE melting by induction heating, (ii) salt ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
