Advanced Photoacoustic Imaging Using Full Matrix Capture Data Acquisition
2015Full Matrix Capture (FMC), when used with the Total Focusing Method (TFM), may offer an improvement on the Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT) algorithm. FMC is a data acquisition process which captures A-scan (time-amplitude) data for every transmitterreceiver combination of elements in an array.

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2014
In this paper, two multi-frequency time-reversal (TR)-based imaging algorithms are explored for application to the nondestructive evaluation (NDE) imaging of defects in solids: time reversal with multiple signal classification (TRMUSIC) and a related phase-coherent form (PC-MUSIC).

Abstract Ultrasonic phased array testing is a widely used nondestructive testing method seen in regular inspection of pressure vessels and pressure pipelines. However, some complex structures of multiple layers give rise to impracticality of existing imaging techniques on accurately evaluating the size and shape of defects within inner ...

Study on the railway wheel ultrasonic inspection method using the full matrix capture
2013 Far East Forum on Nondestructive Evaluation/Testing: New Technology and Application, 2013The quality of wheel is especially important for the safety of high speed railway. In this paper, a new ultrasonic array inspection method, the Full Matrix Capture (FMC) and Total Focus Method (TFM) algorithm, has been studied and applied to the high speed railway wheel inspection, especially in the wheel web from the tread.

Abstract Full matrix capture coupled with total focusing method (FMC-TFM) is one of the most advanced and popular phased array ultrasonic techniques used to achieve simultaneous focusing at all depths in a specimen. In case of conventional FMC-TFM technique, a single element is used for transmission that limits the transmitted energy.

ULTRASONIC PHASED ARRAY INSPECTION OF FLAWS ON WELD FUSION FACES USING FULL MATRIX CAPTURE
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009Work is being conducted to develop phased array inspection of stainless steel welded pipes. Ideally this uses waves reflected and mode converted at the inner surface of the pipe, but most commercial phased array controllers do not currently provide for this. Our solution was to use Full Matrix Capture (FMC) and process the data ourselves.
