EBV‑BZLF1 initiates ODC1‑driven polyamine anabolism that correlates with poor clinical prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The ODC1–spermidine axis promotes viral replication, cell proliferation and innate immune evasion. Pharmacological inhibition of ODC1 rescues cisplatin sensitivity, establishing ODC1 as a viable therapeutic target for EBV ...

FH-deficient uterine leiomyoma: A rare case report highlighting diagnostic and clinical challenges
Fumarate hydratase (FH)–deficient uterine leiomyomas are a rare subtype of fibroids with distinctive histological and immunohistochemical features. We report the case of a 44-year-old nulligravida presenting with chronic pelvic pain for 2 years and an ...

Common pathways and outliers in glucose catabolism across Trypanosomatidae
Trypanosomatid parasites, including Trypanosoma sp., Leishmania sp., Phytomonas sp., and Vickermania sp., share a common motif: a metabolism built around the glycosome, a unique peroxisome‐derived organelle housing the first steps of glycolysis. Yet, these organisms have evolved remarkably diverse strategies to catabolize glucose, excreting distinct ...

Characterisation of the fumarate hydratase repertoire in Trypanosoma cruzi
Nifurtimox and benznidazole represent the only treatments options available targeting Chagas disease, the most important parasitic infection in the Americas. However, use of these is problematic as they are toxic and ineffective against the more severe stages of the disease.

Fumarate Hydratase Mutations and Alterations in Leiomyoma With Bizarre Nuclei [PDF]
Leiomyoma with bizarre nuclei (LM-BN), is a variant of uterine smooth muscle tumor with atypical histologic features. Although some LM-BN share several significant genetic alterations with leiomyosarcoma, including p16 and p53, the underlying tumorigenesis of LM-BN remains largely unknown. As we previously reported, LM-BN can be divided into 2 subtypes,

The TESST classification of testicular sex cord‐stromal tumours was agreed upon by consensus based on the best available evidence. The picture shows the members of the TESST group and delegates of GUPS and ISUP present in‐person at the first meeting of the group held at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore, 2024). Aims Testicular sex cord‐stromal tumours (

This review provides an update on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical/histologic features of cutaneous leiomyosarcoma. Prognostic factors (e.g., depth of tumor involvement, grade, etc.) that can facilitate risk stratification are also discussed, as are treatment approaches for this rare malignancy.

Chromatin remodeling factor LSH affects fumarate hydratase as a cancer driver
Cancer metabolism and epigenetic alteration are two critical mechanisms for tumorigenesis and cancer progression; however, the dynamic interplay between them remains poorly understood.

Biochemical characterization and essentiality of Plasmodium fumarate hydratase [PDF]
ABSTRACT Plasmodium falciparum (Pf), the causative agent of malaria has an iron-sulfur cluster-containing class I fumarate hydratase (FH) that catalyzes the interconversion of fumarate to malate, a well-known reaction in the tricarboxylic acid cycle. In humans, the same reaction is catalyzed by class
