Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Modeling Point Source Potentials in Horizontally Layered Soils

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a novel model for electric current dissipation in horizontally stratified multilayer soils, applicable to arbitrary point source locations and evaluated at any spatial coordinate.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Error analysis and implementation considerations of decoding algorithms for time-encoding machine

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2011
Time-encoding circuits operate in an asynchronous mode and thus are very suitable for ultra-wideband applications. However, this asynchronous mode leads to nonuniform sampling that requires computationally complex decoding algorithms to recover the input

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Learning Decision Rules for a Stochastic Multiperiod Capacitated Traveling Salesperson Problem with Irregularly Clustered Customers

open access: yesLogistics
Background: We consider a variant of the traveling salesperson problem motivated by the case of a company delivering furniture. The problem is both dynamic, due to random arrivals of delivery requests, and multiperiod, due to flexibility in delivering ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
