Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Computation of transfer function matrices of periodic systems

open access: yes, 2002
We present a numerical approach to evaluate the transfer function matrices of a periodic system corresponding to lifted state-space representations as constant systems.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Identification of Keystone Plant Species for Avian Foraging and Nesting in Beijing’s Forest Ecosystems: Implications for Urban Forest Bird Conservation

open access: yesAnimals
Urban wildlife conservation is emerging as a critical component of sustainable city ecosystems. Rather than simply increasing tree abundance or species richness, conservation management should focus on key species. In this research, Xishan Forest Park in

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Symmetric Radial Basis Function Assisted Space-Time Equalisation for Multiple Receive-Antenna Aided Systems

open access: yes, 2007
This contribution considers nonlinear space-time equalisation (STE) designed for single-input multiple-output (SIMO) systems. By exploiting the inherent symmetry of the underlying optimal Bayesian STE solution, a novel symmetric radial basis function ...

Dawn-dusk scale of dipolarization front in the Earth's magnetotail: multi-cases study

open access: yes, 2015
We analyze three dipolarization front (DF) events to investigate their dawn-dusk scales in the Earth's magnetotail using the Cluster measurements in year 2007, when the spacecraft separation is about 1.8 Re (Re is the Earth's radius) and is ...

Multifractal Characterization of Pore Structure of Coals Using Gas Adsorption Experiment and Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP)

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Efficient and safe extraction of coalbed methane is essential for reshaping China’s energy composition. This study integrates CO2 adsorption, N2 adsorption, and corrected mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) data to analyze the full pore size distribution

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
