Predicting outcomes in patients with sepsis-associated encephalopathy using prefrontal functional connectivity analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports
We investigated the relationship between prefrontal functional connectivity of oxyhemoglobin and outcomes in sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE). Additionally, we developed a prognostic method for patients with SAE.

Inhibition of Brain Area and Functional Connectivity in Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss With Tinnitus, Based on Resting-State EEG

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2019
This study aimed to identify the mechanism behind idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) in patients with tinnitus by investigating aberrant activity in areas of the brain and functional connectivity.

Seizure onset zone localization from ictal high-density EEG in five patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Rationale Because epilepsy is a network disease, localization of the exact seizure onset zone (SOZ) is difficult because the epileptic activity can spread to other regions within milliseconds.

Brain networks under attack : robustness properties and the impact of lesions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A growing number of studies approach the brain as a complex network, the so-called ‘connectome’. Adopting this framework, we examine what types or extent of damage the brain can withstand—referred to as network ‘robustness’—and conversely, which kind of ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

The generalized shrinkage estimator for the analysis of functional connectivity of brain signals

open access: yes, 2011
We develop a new statistical method for estimating functional connectivity between neurophysiological signals represented by a multivariate time series. We use partial coherence as the measure of functional connectivity.

Seizure-onset mapping based on time-variant multivariate functional connectivity analysis of high-dimensional intracranial EEG : a Kalman filter approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The visual interpretation of intracranial EEG (iEEG) is the standard method used in complex epilepsy surgery cases to map the regions of seizure onset targeted for resection.

A multimodal neuroimaging classifier for alcohol dependence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
With progress in magnetic resonance imaging technology and a broader dissemination of state-of-the-art imaging facilities, the acquisition of multiple neuroimaging modalities is becoming increasingly feasible.

Connecting relativistic density functional theory to microscopic calculations

open access: yesPhysical Review C
The development of systematic effective field theories (EFTs) for nuclear forces and advances in solving the nuclear many-body problem have greatly improved our understanding of dense nuclear matter and the structure of finite nuclei. For global nuclear calculations, density functional theories (DFTs) have been developed to reduce the complexity and ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
