Bounds for Functions of Dependent Risks [PDF]

open access: yesFinance and Stochastics, 2006
For an \(n\)-variate real function \(\psi\) and a random vector \(X:=(X_1,\dots,X_n)\) the problem of finding the best possible lower bound on the distribution function of \(\psi(X)\) is studied when the marginal distributions of the individual risks \(X_i\) are given and the structure of dependence of \(X\) is partially or completely unknown.

Learning and generalizing non-adjacent dependencies in 18-month-olds: A mechanism for language acquisition? [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The ability to track non-adjacent dependencies (the relationship between ai and bi in an aiXbi string) has been hypothesized to support detection of morpho-syntactic dependencies in natural languages ('The princess is reluctantly kissing the frog').

Discovering Graph Functional Dependencies [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Database Systems, 2018
This article studies discovery of Graph Functional Dependencies (GFDs), a class of functional dependencies defined on graphs. We investigate the fixed-parameter tractability of three fundamental problems related to GFD discovery. We show that the implication and satisfiability problems are fixed-parameter tractable, but the validation problem is co-W[1]

Functional Dependence in Strategic Games [PDF]

open access: yesNotre Dame Journal of Formal Logic, 2016
The paper studies properties of functional dependencies between strategies of players in Nash equilibria of multi-player strategic games. The main focus is on the properties of functional dependencies in the context of a fixed dependency graph for pay-off functions.

Arrayed CRISPR/Cas9 Screening for the Functional Validation of Cancer Genetic Dependencies

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2022
CRISPR/Cas9 screening has revolutionized functional genomics in biomedical research and is a widely used approach for the identification of genetic dependencies in cancer cells. Here, we present an efficient and versatile protocol for the cloning of

Inclusion dependencies and their interaction with functional dependencies

open access: yesProceedings of the 1st ACM SIGACT-SIGMOD symposium on Principles of database systems - PODS '82, 1982
Inclusion dependencies, or INDs (which can say, for example, that every manager is an employee) are studied, including their interaction with functional dependencies, or FDs. A simple complete axiomatization for INDs is presented, and the decision problem for INDs is shown to be PSPACE-complete.

A Graph-Based Technique for Securing the Distributed Cyber-Physical System Infrastructure

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Spreading digitalization, flexibility, and autonomy of technological processes in cyber-physical systems entails high security risks corresponding to negative consequences of the destructive actions of adversaries.

Determination of the normalization level of database schemas through equivalence classes of attributes [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Science Journal of Moldova, 2009
In this paper, based on equivalence classes of attributes there are formulated necessary and sufficient conditions that constraint a database schema to be in the second, third or Boyce-Codd normal forms. These conditions offer a polynomial complexity for
