Evolutionary Art with an EEG Fitness Function [PDF]

This project involved the use of an interactive Genetic Al-gorithm (iGA) with an electroencephalogram (EEG)-based fitness function to create paintings in the style of Piet Mondrian, a Dutch painter who used geometric elements in his later paintings. Primary data for the prototype was gathered by analysis of twenty-seven existing Mondrian paintings.

Analysing Error of Fit Functions for Ellipses [PDF]

Abstract We describe several established error of fit (EOF) functions for use in the least square fitting of ellipses, and introduce a further four new EOFs. Four measures are used for assessing the suitability of such EOFs, quantifying their linearity, curvature bias, asymmetry, and overall goodness.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
