The chemical composition and band alignment are systematically investigated at the TiO2/InP heterointerface. Thin TiO2 films are deposited by ALD on atomically ordered, P‐terminated p‐InP(100). By combining UPS, XPS, and ab initio molecular dynamics, the atomistic structure and electronic alignment are revealed.

Bimetallic Nanoparticles as Cocatalysts for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production
Recent developments have introduced bimetallic nanoparticles as effective cocatalysts for photocatalytic systems. This review explores the rapidly expanding research on bimetallic cocatalysts for photocatalytic production of hydrogen, emphasizing the creation of carrier‐selective contacts, localized surface plasmon resonance effects, methodologies for ...

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

AbstractGroup sequential monitoring is used to provide guidance on stopping a clinical trial in progress based on interim evaluation of its efficacy objectives. A trial could stop because an experimental regimen (1) is efficacious, (2) lacks any sign of efficacy, or (3) is specifically less efficacious than a control.

The process of creating art is an optimization problem for which the objective function is probably unknown and possibly undefinable. That objective function is imposed on the artist by an environment which may be composed of any of a number of sources: peers, a jury, society, the self.

Fitting the correlation function
Applied Optics, 2000The whole correlation function of the intensity of scattered light is usually determined from a single realization of the photocurrent. As a result, the values of the correlation function at different delay times are not statistically independent. A standard least-squares fitting procedure is not optimal for an analysis of such data.

AbstractThe usual exponential approximation for ultraviolet UV absorption in optical fibers could not fit the attenuation coefficient over a broad spectral range. As the UV absorption spectrum is a result of electronic transitions, we propose a Lorentzian function to model this contribution. Experimental results show a good agreement.

Function, Fitness, Flourishing
2023Abstract A naturalistic theory of moral realism, based on ancient Greek eudaimonism, is presented using concepts from biological and evolutionary theory. The general empirical claim is that each species evolves traits which promote flourishing in those individual members who develop them.

Properties of Symmetric Fitness Functions
IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, 2006The properties of symmetric fitness functions are investigated. We show that the search spaces obtained from symmetric functions have the zero-correlation structures between fitness and distance. It is also proven that symmetric functions induce a class of the hardest problems in terms of the epistasis variance and its variants.
