The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Functional Properties of Equestrian Arena Surfaces: Temporal and Spatial Variations [PDF]

open access: yes
Horses are ridden or driven on a variety of surfaces, which differently absorb the impact forces exerted on hooves, limbs and the horse's entire body. Objective measurement of the functional properties of equestrian arena surfaces is therefore of great ...

Properties of d’Alembert functions

open access: yesAequationes mathematicae, 2009
We study properties of solutions f of d’Alembert’s functional equations on a topological group G. For nilpotent groups and for connected, solvable Lie groups G, we prove that f has the form \(f(x) = (\gamma(x)+\gamma(x^{-1}))/2, x \in G\), where γ is a continuous homomorphism of G into the multiplicative group \({\mathbb{C}} \setminus \{0\}\).

Doubling properties of caloric functions

open access: yesApplicable Analysis, 2006
We prove local quantitative estimates of unique continuation for solutions to parabolic equations: doubling properties and two-sphere one-cylinder inequalities.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Komparativna studija sastava i funkcionalnih osobina brašna od trolisnih varijeteta yama

open access: yes, 2020
The effect of drying methods on proximate composition and functional properties of Trifoliate Yam were investigated. The sample was dried using sun and oven drying methods.

A half-graph depth for functional data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A recent and highly attractive area of research in statistics is the analysis of functional data. In this paper a new definition of depth for functional observations is introduced based on the notion of "half-graph" of a curve.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Functional barriers: Properties and evaluation

open access: yes, 2005
Functional barriers are multilayer structures deemed to prevent migration of some chemicals released by food-contact materials into food. In the area of plastics packaging, different migration behaviours of mono- and multilayer structures are assessed in
