CLASSIFICATION OF RISK PREFERENCES WITH ELICITED UTILITY DATA: DOES FUNCTIONAL FORM MATTER? [PDF]

open access: yes
Recently, several problems with elicited utility functions have emerged. This paper concerns a fundamental problem in risk preference classification with elicited data.

First Principles Calculation of Field Emission from Nanostructures using Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory: a Simplified Approach

open access: yes, 2010
We introduce a new simplified method for computing the electron field emission current in short carbon nanotubes using ab-initio computation in periodic simulation cells.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Why the Linear Utility Function is a Risky Choice in Discrete-Choice Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes
This article assesses how the form of the utility function in discrete-choice experiments (DCEs) affects estimates of willingness-to-pay (WTP). The utility function is usually assumed to be linear in its attributes.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

INCREASING AT AN INCREASING RATE: THE POTENTIAL CONVEXITY OF DISCRETE-CHOICE WELFARE MEASURES [PDF]

open access: yes
When environmental quality enters random utility models linearly, welfare measures are convex in quality. The convexity is partly due to site substitution, and it has policy implications for whether changes in quality should be concentrated or diffuse ...

Dysregulated protocadherin-pathway activity as an intrinsic defect in induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cortical interneurons from subjects with schizophrenia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We generated cortical interneurons (cINs) from induced pluripotent stem cells derived from 14 healthy controls and 14 subjects with schizophrenia. Both healthy control cINs and schizophrenia cINs were authentic, fired spontaneously, received functional ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

The Attitude Toward Probabilities of Portfolio Managers : an Experimental Study [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes an experiment about the attitude toward probabilities on a population of portfolio managers. Its aim is to check whether or not portfolio managers are neutral toward probabilities.
