Study of Functional Variable Method for Finding Exact Solutions of Nonlinear Evolution Equations

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2014
A direct method, called the functional variable method, has been used to construct the exact solutions of nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs) in mathematical physics.

A Comparison between Fixed-Basis and Variable-Basis Schemes for Function Approximation and Functional Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Fixed-basis and variable-basis approximation schemes are compared for the problems of function approximation and functional optimization (also known as infinite programming).

Bayesian Adaptive Lasso for the Partial Functional Linear Spatial Autoregressive Model

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
This study introduces a partial functional linear spatial autoregressive model which can explore the relationship between a scalar spatially dependent response variable and predictive variables containing both multiple scalar covariates and a functional ...

On interpolation variants of Newton’s method for functions of several variables

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2010
Let \(F:D\subset R^n\to R^n\) be a sufficiently differentiable function. The convergence of the iterative method \[ x^{k+1}=x^k-(\sum_{h=1}^m A_hJ_F(\eta_h(x^k)))^{-1} F(x^k),\quad k\geq 0 \] towards a certain zero of \(F\) is discussed, via generalized Newton methods. Some numerical examples are given so as to illustrate the method.

The Impact of Genetically Proxied AMPK Activation, the Target of Metformin, on Functional Outcome Following Ischemic Stroke [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stroke, 2023
Background and Purpose We performed a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to evaluate the causal effect of genetically proxied AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation, which is the target of metformin, on functional outcome following ...

PARAMETRIC SYNTHESIS OF А NON-STATIONARY AUTOMATIC CONTROL SYSTEM OF THE COURSE STABILITY OF THE CAR

open access: yesСучасні інформаційні системи, 2020
Widely used in the practice of analysis and synthesis of automatic control systems of non-stationary dynamic systems, the method of “frozen coefficients” does not have a rigorous theoretical justification and does not always lead to the desired results ...

Combining Quadratic Penalization and Variable Selection via Forward Boosting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Quadratic penalties can be used to incorporate external knowledge about the association structure among regressors. Unfortunately, they do not enforce single estimated regression coefficients to equal zero.

New Exponential Variable Transform Methods for Functions with Endpoint Singularities [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 2014
The focus of this article is the approximation of functions which are analytic on a compact interval except at the endpoints. Typical numerical methods for approximating such functions depend upon the use of particular conformal maps from the original interval to either a semi-infinite or an infinite interval, followed by an appropriate approximation ...
