Symbiotic Stars: Observations Confront Theory

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2012
In this paper, I present and discuss some recent observational results which may have important implications for our understanding of late phases of binary evolution.

Fundamental Geodetic Parameters 1999 [PDF]

open access: yesHighlights of Astronomy, 2002
AbstractThe present (2000) set of primary “constants” and “current best estimates” is being reviewed. The emphasis within IUGG is on the consideration and numerical evaluation of temporal changes of relevant parameters. The accuracy of many parameters has been substantially improved, but many numerical values did not change significantly. Therefore, to

FUNDAMENTAL PARAMETERS, INTEGRATED RED GIANT BRANCH MASS LOSS, AND DUST PRODUCTION IN THE GALACTIC GLOBULAR CLUSTER 47 TUCANAE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fundamental parameters and time evolution of mass loss are investigated for post-main-sequence stars in the Galactic globular cluster 47 Tucanae (NGC 104).

Determination of fundamental asteroseismic parameters using the Hilbert transform

open access: yes, 2015
Context. Solar-like oscillations exhibit a regular pattern of frequencies. This pattern is dominated by the small and large frequency separations between modes.

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

FUNDPAR: A program for Deriving Fundamental Parameters from Equivalent Widths [PDF]

open access: green, 2010
We implemented a fortran code that determine fundamental parameters of solar type stars from a list of Fe line equivalent widths. The solution should verify 3 conditions in the standard method: ionization equilibrium, excitation equilibrium and ...

Fundamental stellar parameters of zeta Pup and gamma^2 Vel from HIPPARCOS data

open access: yes, 1997
We report parallax measurements by the HIPPARCOS satellite of zeta Puppis and gamma^2 Velorum. The distance of zeta Pup is d=429 (+120/ -77) pc, in agreement with the commonly adopted value to Vela OB2.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Fundamental parameters of the close interacting binary HD170582 and its luminous accretion disc

open access: yes, 2015
We present a spectroscopic and photometric study of the Double Period Variable HD170582. Based on the study of the ASAS V-band light curve we determine an improved orbital period of 16.87177 $\pm$ 0.02084 days and a long period of 587 days.
