Survey of Ophthalmology, 1989
Fundus imaging and photography are cornerstones of modern ophthalmic practice. The recent developments in electro-optic and computer imaging technology resulted in many improvements in the acquisition and analysis of fundus images, which already are being used in commercial fundus imaging systems.

FUNDUS AUTOFLUORESCENCE IMAGING
Retina, 2008Fundus autofluorescence (FAF) imaging is a novel imaging method that allows topographic mapping of lipofuscin distribution in the retinal pigment epithelium cell monolayer as well as of other fluorophores that may occur with disease in the outer retina and the subneurosensory space.

Blur detection in fundus images
2012 5th International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics, 2012The paper addresses the problem of retinal image quality assessment, in particular the problem of blur detection for retinal images is considered. The blur value is obtained using an analysis of blood vessel edge widths as the vasculature is the object that is least prone to structural distortion even if blurred.

Panoramic Imaging of the Ocular Fundus
Archives of Ophthalmology, 2003There are several camera systems available to the ophthalmologist for documenting fundus conditions. We present our results of imaging with a new wide-angle contact camera system, Panoret-1000 (CMT Medical Technologies Inc, Valley Stream, NY). This digital camera provides high-resolution, wide-field imaging of the ocular fundus.

Identification of noise in the fundus images
2013 IEEE International Conference on Control System, Computing and Engineering, 2013Analysis of the tiny retinal vasculatures in retinal fundus images becomes difficult due to very low and varied contrast between the retinal vasculature and the background. Fundus fluorescein angiogram overcomes these problems and provides an excellent visualization of the retinal vasculature; however it is an invasive procedure requiring injection of ...

Fundus GAN - GAN-based Fundus Image Synthesis for Training Retinal Image Classifiers
2022 44th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society (EMBC), 2022Two major challenges in applying deep learning to develop a computer-aided diagnosis of fundus images are the lack of enough labeled data and legal issues with patient privacy. Various efforts are being made to increase the amount of data either by augmenting training images or by synthesizing realistic-looking fundus images.

Fundus imaging and the telemedical management of diabetes
Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, 2002Diabetes is the major preventable form of blindness among people of working age in the Western world, despite the improvements in laser photocoagulation treatments. It is known that regular glycaemic control and annual retinal screening of people with diabetes can reduce its incidence.

A Fourier Transform hyperspectral imager was integrated onto a standard clinical fundus camera, a Zeiss FF3, for the purposes of spectrally characterizing normal anatomical and pathological features in the human ocular fundus. To develop this instrument an existing FDA approved retinal camera was selected to avoid the difficulties of obtaining new FDA ...
