Homeostasis of Gut Microbiota Protects against Susceptibility to Fungal Pneumonia
Fungal pneumonia induces inflammation, shown by heightened IL‐6, IL‐1β, TNF‐α levels and a growth in Staphylococcus in the alveolar flora. The gut microbiota, acting through the gut‐lung axis via blood, impacts fungal pneumonia susceptibility by altering lung metabolism and inflammatory responses.

The apple susceptibility‐related LRR‐RLK MdRLKT21 competitively binds to fungal sRNA effectors and subsequently activates defenses by salvaging the expression of MdRLKT1 and MdRLKT2 and thereby releasing the resistance protein MdRFP1. These findings provide new insights into the molecular mechanism by which plants counteract pathogen‐secreted sRNA ...

GbSER02 with a single base change (SNP517G) encodes normal serpin protein and interacts with transcription factor VOZ1 to alleviate the repression of VOZ1 on GA3ox1 and promote GA3 biosynthesis. Further, GA3 induces the expression of cell wall loosening‐related genes and decreases flavonoid content, ultimately facilitating fiber cell elongation in ...

Phylogenomics aims to infer the evolutionary relationships of organisms, and their genomes, genes, and proteins, from genomic data. Understanding the evolution of these components can provide clues about their biological functions. Here we describe minimal protocols for inferring families of genes (and the proteins they encode), and using them in ...
