Phenazines Synthesis by Palladium‐Catalyzed Reductive Cyclization of 2‐Nitro‐N‐Phenylanilines Using Gaseous CO or Its Surrogates

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A practical palladium (Pd)‐catalyzed approach enables the synthesis of phenazines by reductive cyclization of 2‐nitro‐N‐phenylanilines using either carbon monoxide (CO) gas or phenyl formate as an in situ CO source. The method avoids harsh reagents and minimizes byproducts.

Exo‐Selective Intramolecular (4+3) Cycloadditions to Trans‐Fused Perhydroazulenes: An Asymmetric Formal Synthesis of (−)‐Pseudolaric Acid B

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We present an asymmetric formal synthesis of pseudolaric acid B, for which we developed a new family of substrates with an epoxide geminally tethered to a sidechain bearing a furan, which undergoes a TESOTf‐catalyzed intramolecular (4+3) cycloaddition to yield the trans‐fused perhydroazulene core and the requisite quaternary stereocenter of the natural

Synthesis of Novel Dihydropyridine‐Iminium Salts Containing a Selenazine Core

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
An efficient method to develop novel dihydropyrido[3,2‐e][1,3]selenazines iminium salts. A comparative study of the key reagent selenourea towards thiourea and urea was carried out to assess the contribution of chalcogen to the pathway. DFT (density functional theory) calculations have predicted the optimized minimum energy structure for the hybrid ...

Polymorphic α‐Glucans as Structural Scaffolds in Cryptococcus Cell Walls for Chitin, Capsule, and Melanin: Insights From 13C and 1H Solid‐State NMR

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Cryptococcus neoformans cell wall α‐1,3‐glucans as dual anchors for melanin and capsule: Solid‐state NMR of intact C. neoformans cells reveals five forms of α‐1,3‐glucans that structurally bridge melanin and capsule layers. These polysaccharides interact with chitin, chitosan, and β‐glucans to create a molecular scaffold that underlies virulence and ...

Self‐Administered Taste Testing Without Water: Normative Data for the 53‐Item Waterless Empirical Taste Test (WETT)

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), more than 20 million Americans suffer from chronic taste problems. Unfortunately, quantitative testing is rarely performed, self‐reports are inaccurate, and “taste” is often confused with olfaction‐dependent flavors.

Iron‐Catalyzed Carbonylation Reactions with Carbon Monoxide

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Recent developments in iron‐catalyzed carbonylative transformations using CO as a C₁ feedstock are summarized in this minireview. Reaction mechanisms of selected reactions and the potential for further advancements in this field are also discussed. Abstract The utilization of carbon monoxide (CO) as an inexpensive and indispensable C1 feedstock for the

A hepatoprotective experiment on taro vegetable (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott) flower employing animal models by mitigating oxidative stress

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The antioxidant efficacy of Colocasia esculenta flower’s methanolic extract was assessed using 2,2′‐azino‐bis‐(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic) (ABTS) and 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging assay. The hepatoprotective effect was investigated by assessing liver injury indicators (amino transferase [ALT], aspartate amino transferase [AST],
