A generalised spatial branching process with ancestral branching to model the growth of a filamentous fungus [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this work, we introduce a spatial branching process to model the growth of the mycelial network of a filamentous fungus. In this model, each filament is described by the position of its tip, the trajectory of which is solution to a stochastic differential equation with a drift term which depends on all the other trajectories.

Peptide strings clues to the genesis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: rebuilding self-protective immunity amid fungal ruins [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
A recent application of the peptide strings concept has yielded novel perceptions on cell growth regulation, for instance that of oncoprotein metastasis. Here, this interdisciplinary approach at the boundary between physics and biology has been applied to gain a more profound insight into rheumatoid arthritis.

Electroactive Electrospun Nanofibrous Scaffolds: Innovative Approaches for Improved Skin Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores the potential of electroactive electrospun nanofibrous (EEN) scaffolds for enhanced skin wound healing. It discusses how a variety of electroactive materials can be prepared into EEN scaffolds via electrospinning technology, and their applications in various wound types. The review provides insights into the future perspectives for

Modeling the effects of cymene on the distribution of germination and growth of Beauveria bassiana [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Essential oils have antifungal and antipathogenic effects and therefore are targets in plant pathology research for their potential uses as natural substitutes for inorganic plant pesticides. Beauveria bassiana, an entomopathogenic fungus, can endophytically colonize a vast number of plant species and trigger induced systemic resistance against plant ...

Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Reveals a Stereoscopic Response of Rice Leaf Cells to Magnaporthe oryzae Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By employing a combination of single cell and spatial transcriptomic sequencing, this study presents a stereoscopic response of rice leaf to Magnaporthe oryzae infection. The vascular tissues mount defenses by producing phytoalexins. The immune strength is stronger toward the rice leaf tip than that of the leaf base.

Fluorine‐Directed Automated Mannoside Assembly

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 62, Issue 3, January 16, 2023., 2023
Motivated by the importance of fluorination in drug discovery, fluorine‐directed automated glycan assembly (AFGA) is disclosed. This strategy leverages the C(sp3)−F bond at C2 to enable α‐stereocontrolled glycosylation that eliminates the reliance on O‐based directing groups.

Chromosome‐Level Genome Assembly of the Leafcutter Bee Megachile rotundata Reveals Its Ecological Adaptation and Pollination Biology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The genome of Megachile rotundata, an extensively managed solitary pollination bee species, has been sequenced, covering 280.68 Mb and predicting 10 701 genes. The study reveals significant expansions of the Toll gene family and their abundant expression in diapause prepupae, highlighting enhanced immune responses during diapause. This genome serves as
