Funnel cruise control

open access: yesAutomatica, 2020
We consider the problem of vehicle following, where a safety distance to the leader vehicle is guaranteed at all times and a favourite velocity is reached as far as possible. We introduce the funnel cruise controller as a novel universal adaptive cruise control mechanism which is model-free and achieves the aforementioned control objectives.

Operator-Based Nonlinear Control for a Miniature Flexible Actuator Using the Funnel Control Method

open access: yesMachines, 2021
Recently, the studies of soft actuators have been getting increased attention among various fields. Soft actuators are very safe for fragile objects and have an affinity to humans because they are composed of flexible materials.

Constrained Nonsingular Terminal Sliding Mode Attitude Control for Spacecraft: A Funnel Control Approach

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
This paper presents an adaptive constrained attitude control for uncertain spacecraft. Inspired by the concept of nonsingular terminal sliding mode control and funnel control for nonlinear systems, a novel adaptive attitude control is introduced which ...

A Novel Nonlinear Quadrotor Attitude Regulation with Disturbances and Preassigned Convergences

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2022
This article develops a novel unknown system dynamic estimator-based funnel control scheme for nonlinear quadrotor attitude regulation with preassigned convergence subject to parametric uncertainties and external perturbations.

Performance funnels and tracking control [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Control, 2009
Tracking of an absolutely continuous reference signal (assumed bounded with essentially bounded derivative) is considered in the context of a class of non-linear, single-input, single-output, dynamical systems modelled by functional differential equations satisfying certain structural hypotheses (which, interpreted in the highly specialised case of ...

Investigations on Integrated Funnel, Fan and Diffuser Augmented Unique Wind Turbine to Enhance the Wind Speed [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2023
Wind energy is an alternative future energy to fossil fuels since it is abundant and green energy. As a result, high performance unique design is proposed that has a diffuser augmented wind turbine including intake funnel with guide vanes, natural fan ...

The bang-bang funnel controller [PDF]

open access: yes49th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2010
A bang-bang controller is proposed which is able to ensure reference signal tracking with prespecified time-varying error bounds (the funnel) for nonlinear systems with relative degree one or two. For the design of the controller only the knowledge of the relative degree is needed.

Asymptotic Tracking via Funnel Control [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE 58th Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2019
Funnel control is a powerful and simple method to solve the output tracking problem without the need of a good system model, without identification and without knowlegde how the reference signal is produced, but transient behavior as well as arbitrary good accuracy can be guaranteed.

Observation of electro-activated localized structures in broad area VCSELs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate experimentally the electro-activation of a localized optical structure in a coherently driven broad-area vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) operated below threshold.
