Boron‐Based Functionalities Enhance the Potency of 2,5‐Dimethylfuran‐Based IDO1 Inhibitors
Indoleamine‐2,3‐dioxygenase‐1 (IDO1), a key immunoregulatory enzyme, is inhibited by novel boron derivatives (closo‐1,2‐ and 1,7‐carborane, boronic acids and esters, and benzoxaboroles) of 2,5‐dimethylfuran, each displaying low μM affinity for the human recombinant enzyme.

Selective Hydrogenation of HMF to DHMF Using Cationic Ru‐PNP Complex
A novel Ru‐PNP catalyst bearing acetonitrile as ancillary ligand efficiently converts 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5‐dihydroxymethylfuran under mild conditions (30 °C, 30 bar H₂), achieving a quantitative yield in 6 h. This catalyst outperforms the state‐of‐the‐art iPrRu‐MACHO by an order of magnitude in yield across various conditions.

This study analyzes the electrochemical reduction pathways of 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) on Cu electrodes. Our findings show that 2,5‐bis(hydroxymethyl)furan (BHMF) and 5‐methylfurfural (5‐MF) occurs through direct HMF reduction. Additionally, 5‐methylfurfural alcohol (MFA) can be produced either from HMF or 5‐MF, while 2,5‐dimethylfuran is derived ...

Ni‐Based Catalysts for 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural Electrooxidation Coupled with Hydrogen Production
The co‐electrolysis of H2O and 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) using Ni‐based catalysts, under alkaline conditions, co‐produces low‐carbon hydrogen and furandicarboxylic acid. This review delves into the electrooxidation mechanism of HMF electrooxidation, presents recent advancements in the performance of Ni‐based catalysts and highlights the effects of ...
