Susceptibility-Guided Versus Empirical Therapy for Helicobacter pylori Infection in a High Resistance Setting: A Randomised Controlled Trial. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
In a randomised trial conducted in a high‐resistance region, PCR‐based susceptibility‐guided therapy showed no superiority over empirical therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication. Empirical clarithromycin‐containing quadruple therapy remained effective despite high clarithromycin resistance.

Risk Factors for Delayed Bleeding and Its Impact on Long-Term Efficacy After Endoscopic Sclerotherapy for Internal Haemorrhoids by Inverted Colonoscopy Without Transparent Caps. [PDF]

open access: yesGastroenterol Res Pract
Background We investigated the incidence, timing, risk factors and prognosis of delayed haemorrhage after endoscopic injection sclerotherapy (EIS) with lauromacrogol for internal haemorrhoids (IHs) using an inverted colonoscope without transparent caps. Methods The clinical data of 252 patients undergoing EIS with lauromacrogol for IH using an inverted

Diagnosis, Treatment Patterns and Eradication Success for Helicobacter pylori Infections in China: A Retrospective Observational Real-World Study. [PDF]

open access: yesJGH Open
ABSTRACT Background and Aim In Mainland China, Helicobacter pylori infection is prevalent in about 50% of adults. However, there is limited real‐world evidence on its diagnosis and treatment patterns. This study investigated diagnosis, treatment patterns, and effectiveness of eradication treatment in patients with Helicobacter pylori infections in ...

Effectiveness of empirical Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy with furazolidone in Russia: results from the European Registry on Helicobacter pylori Management (Hp-EuReg)

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2023
Background. First-line therapy does not always provide a high level of Helicobacter pylori eradication due to the increase of H. pylori resistance to antibiotics; therefore, it remains necessary to identify the most effective rescue treatments.

Efficacy and Safety of Vonoprazan and High-Dose Amoxicillin Dual Therapy for Rescue Treatment of Helicobacter pylori Infection: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial. [PDF]

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterol J
ABSTRACT Background Vonoprazan and amoxicillin dual therapy has demonstrated favorable efficacy in the initial treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of vonoprazan and high‐dose amoxicillin (VHA) dual therapy for H. pylori rescue treatment. Methods This was an open label, multicenter,

Isolation, Identification and Pathogenicity Analysis of Proteus mirabilis in Cynomolgus Monkey From Yunnan, China. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This study demonstrated that the pathogen responsible for diarrhoea in a cynomolgus monkey was identified as Proteus mirabilis (P. mirabilis) through methods including bacterial isolation and culture, morphological examination, biochemical profiling, 16S rRNA sequencing, analysis of key virulence genes and bacterial artificial infection tests.

Exploring Alternative Treatment Choices for Multidrug-Resistant Clinical Strains of Helicobacter pylori in Mongolia

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Helicobacter pylori is a pathogen related to severe diseases such as gastric cancer; because of rising antimicrobial-resistant strains, failure to eradicate H. pylori with antibiotics has increased worldwide. Multidrug-resistant H.

Furazolidone-based therapies for Helicobacter pylori infection: A pooled-data analysis

open access: yesThe Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology, 2012
Background/Aim: Furazolidone-based therapies are used in developing countries to cure Helicobacter pylori infection due to its low cost. The low bacterial resistance toward furazolidone may render appealing the use of this drug even in developed ...

Rescue Therapy with Furazolidone in Patients with at Least Five Eradication Treatment Failures and Multi-Resistant H. pylori infection

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2021
Helicobacter pylori infection may persist after multiple eradication treatments. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a furazolidone-based rescue regimen in hyper-refractory patients.

A Precision Microbiome Approach Using Sucrose for Selective Augmentation of Staphylococcus epidermidis Fermentation against Propionibacterium acnes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Acne dysbiosis happens when there is a microbial imbalance of the over-growth of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) in the acne microbiome. In our previous study, we demonstrated that Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis, a probiotic skin bacterium)
