Biomimetic Vascular Scaffold with Seamless Electrospun Aligned Nanofiber Conduit and 3D‐Printed Coil Reinforcement

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a new fabrication method that overcomes the current limitation of tubular gap electrospinning. We successfully fabricated a seamless hollow tube with fibers aligned along the longitudinal axis in diameters as small as 300 µm, and then reinforced it using 4‐axis 3D printing.

Controlling the Composition, Morphology, Porosity, and Surface Chemistry of Lignin-Based Electrospun Carbon Materials

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2019
Electrospinning is a suitable top-down technique for the preparation of polymeric fibers using high voltage electrical fields and solutions of the selected polymer of adequate viscosity and conductivity. The versatility of electrospinning allows accurate

Encoded Cell‐Material Interactions to Reroute Cytokine Signaling for Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present native MATRIX (Material Activated To Regulate Inducible gene eXpression), a co‐engineered material‐cell platform. Surfaces functionalized with antibodies for endogenous soluble ligands (e.g., IL‐1β or IL‐6) capture and immobilize ligands for presentation to a cognate, engineered synthetic Notch receptor, releasing a transcription factor (TF)

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Cell-free protein synthesis with technical additives – expanding the parameter space of in vitro gene expression

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
Biocatalysis has established itself as a successful tool in organic synthesis. A particularly fast technique for screening enzymes is the in vitro expression or cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS).

Self‐Cooling Molecular Spin Qudits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A material made of [GdEr] molecular dimers can encode a qudit and perform as a magnetic refrigerant. Microwave resonant pulses coherently manipulate its 16 spin states, while direct demagnetization measurements cool the material and a device down to temperatures below 1 K.

Azaporphyrinoid‐Based Photo‐ and Electroactive Architectures for Advanced Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐standing collaboration between the Torres and Guldi groups has yielded diverse azaporphyrinoid‐based donor‐acceptor nanohybrids with promising applications in solar energy conversion. This conspectus highlights key molecular platforms and structure‐function relationships that govern light and charge management, supporting the rational design of ...

Tetrathiapentalene-based organic conductors

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2009
The synthesis, structure and properties of tetrathiapentalene-based (TTP) organic conductors are reviewed. Among various TTP-type donors, bis-fused tetrathiafulvalene, 2,5-bis(1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)-1,3,4,6-tetrathiapentalene (BDT-TTP) and its ...

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Molecular Conductors Based on Dimethylcyclohexene-Fused Tetrathiafulvalene

open access: yesChemistry
Chiral electroactive materials have attracted attention for the effects of electrical magnetochiral anisotropy (eMChA) and chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS).
