The High Temperature Experiment for Accelerator Inertial Fusion [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1985
The High Temperature Experiment (HTE) is intended to produce temperatures of 50-100 eV in solid density targets driven by heavy ion beams from a multiple beam induction linac [1]. The fundamental variables (particle species, energy, number of beamlets, current and pulse length) must be fixed to achieve the temperature at minimum cost, subject to ...

Synthesis of Na-X zeolite from Longkou oil shale ash by alkaline fusion hydrothermal method

open access: yesCarbon Resources Conversion, 2018
Na-X zeolites were synthesized by Longkou oil shale ash with the alkaline fusion hydrothermal method. The effects of fusion temperature, ash to NaOH ratio, solid-liquid ratio, crystallization time and crystallization temperature on the crystallinity of ...

Thermal Temperature Measurements of Inertial Fusion Implosions

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
Accurate measurement of the thermal temperature in inertially confined fusion plasmas is essential for characterizing ignition performance and validating the basic physics understanding of the stagnation conditions. We present experimental results from cryogenic deuterium-tritium implosions on the National Ignition Facility using a differential filter ...

Roles of resonant muonic molecule in new kinetics model and muon catalyzed fusion in compressed gas

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Muon catalyzed fusion ( $$\mu$$ μ CF) in which an elementary particle, muon, facilitates the nuclear fusion between the hydrogen isotopes has been investigated in a long history.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Platinum Group Elements Recovery from Used Catalytic Converters by Acidic Fusion and Leaching

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The recovery of platinum group elements (PGE (platinum group element coating); Pd, Pt, and Rh) from used catalytic converters, using low energy and fewer chemicals, was developed using potassium bisulfate fusion pretreatment, and subsequently leached ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
