A Cognitive Future Internet Architecture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This Chapter proposes a novel Cognitive Framework as reference architecture for the Future Internet (FI), which is based on so-called Cognitive Managers. The objective of the proposed architecture is twofold. On one hand, it aims at achieving a full interoperation among the different entities constituting the ICT environment, by means of the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Using a Distributed Roadside Unit for the Data Dissemination Protocol in VANET With the Named Data Architecture

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) has recently become one of the highly active research areas for wireless networking. Since VANET is a multi-hop wireless network with very high mobility and intermittent connection lifetime, it is important to effectively

Adaptive Indoor Localization System for Large-Scale Area

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Generally, fingerprint-based indoor localization works inefficiently when deployed in a large-scale area. This is because it consumes massive resources and takes long processing time for searching the exact location in the large fingerprint database ...

RFID based embedded system for sustainable food management in an IoT network paradigm

open access: yes, 2019
A third of the food produced in the world ends up in the rubbish, enough to put an end to world hunger. On the other hand, society is increasingly concerned to bring healthy eating habits. A RFID (radio frequency identification) food management system is

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
