Fuzzy-PID controllers vs. fuzzy-PI controllers
Proceedings of IEEE 5th International Fuzzy Systems, 2002The synthesis of a control system includes both the controller selection and the adjustment of its parameters. In some cases, the type of controller might be more complex or more general, like PID instead PI or PD, to improve the control system performance. In all cases, the tuning problem must be satisfactorily solved. On the other hand, fuzzy control

Fuzzy logic in control systems: fuzzy logic controller. I
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1990For pt.I see ibid., vol.20, no.2, p.404-18, 1990. The basic aspects of the FLC (fuzzy logic controller) decision-making logic are examined. Several issues, including the definitions of a fuzzy implication, compositional operators, the interpretations of the sentence connectives 'and' and 'also', and fuzzy inference mechanisms, are investigated ...

In this paper we argue that fuzzy controllers should be looked at as fuzzy valued mappings rather than crisp valued mappings. As a result using an explicit interpolation method as an inference mechanism becomes more natural than applying fuzzy reasoning.
