RGB‐D Vision‐Based Positioning and Anomaly Detection of Sample Plate and Vials for High‐Throughput Laboratory Automation

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Current auto sampling instruments hinder chemical synthesis analytics' throughput due to poor real‐time accuracy and anomaly detection, we resolve these problems via an RGB‐D information fusion framework. Our algorithm achieves one‐shot vial positioning (92% precision/93% recall) and height measurement with an accuracy of 0.52 mm, which are critical ...

Enhancing Rail Transit Safety: Edge Computing‐Based Driver State Monitoring System

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This article presents an edge computing‐based driver state monitoring system designed to enhance rail transit safety by analyzing real‐time data on driver identity, posture, and behavior. Leveraging facial recognition and AI‐driven detection methods, the system integrates edge and cloud computing to promptly identify unsafe conditions, enabling ...

Time Tools

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, Volume 18, Issue 1, Page 147-168, January 2026.
Abstract Many core human activities require an understanding of time. To coordinate rituals, plan harvests and hunts, recall histories, keep appointments, and follow recipes, we need to grapple with invisible temporal structures like durations, sequences, and cycles. No other species seems to do this.

An MLP using Hough transform based fuzzy feature extraction for Bengali script recognition [PDF]

open access: yesPattern Recognition Letters, 1999
Abstract We define fuzzy sets on the Hough transform of character pattern pixels from which additional fuzzy sets are synthesized using t-norms. A multilayer perceptron trained with a number of linguistic set memberships derived from these t-norms can recognize characters of Bengali scripts by their similarities to different fuzzy pattern classes.

Machine Vision and Canny Edge Detector–Based Printing Image Detection and Recognition Model

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Traditional image detection and recognition models face issues such as high miss detection rates, low classification accuracy, and poor real‐time performance when dealing with complex printing images, including defects and flaws. To address these problems, this study proposes a printing image detection and recognition model based on machine vision ...

Image-based Fuzzy Parking Control of a Car-like Mobile Robot

open access: yesInternational Journal on Smart Material and Mechatronics, 2017
This paper develops a novel automatic parking system using an image-based fuzzy controller, where in the reasoning the slope and intercept of the desired target line are used for the inputs, and the steering angle of the robot is generated for the output.

Hierarchical nondestructive detection of full‐scene suspended ceiling systems using point cloud

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 29, Page 5380-5395, 9 December 2025.
Abstract Suspended ceiling (SC) systems constitute a critical nonstructural building component. Excessive deformation of the ceiling surface can cause life‐threatening falling debris during earthquakes and create voids that may expose occupants to hazardous materials concealed above the ceiling.
