Compensation for Those Indirectly Affected by the Death of a Household Member

open access: yesEconomics and Culture, 2017
This article demonstrates the size of the budget gap that arises in a household after the death of that member who was the breadwinner of the family. It also describes how this gap can be covered by motor vehicle liability insurance.

Novel Antifungal Scaffold Targeting Tubulin Overcomes Sclerotinia Sclerotiorum Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
Addressing pesticide resistance, novel chromone‐acylhydrazone hybrids targeting fungal tubulin are synthesized. Compound G24 potently inhibited S. sclerotiorum (EC50 = 0.21µg mL−1) and demonstrated enhanced field performance via microencapsulation, offering a sustainable strategy against resistance and for global food security.

High Relative Parasitic Fitness of G22 Derivatives is Associated with the Epidemic Potential of Wheat Stripe Rust in China [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2018
In total, 13 commercial wheat cultivars around China and four races of Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (namely, CYR32, CYR33, G22-9, and G22-14) were employed for a test of relative parasitic fitness (RPF) using the drop method. The RPF values were measured, including the urediniospore germination rate, the latent period, the uredinial length, the

Microbial Metabolism and Disease Virulence Changes Across Day and Night in Coral Black Band Disease Lesions

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 28, Issue 2, February 2026.
Metatranscriptomic reads from black band disease (BBD) lesions derived from samples collected during the day and night were mapped to near‐complete BBD‐derived metagenome‐assembled genomes to profile diurnal metabolic shifts among key microbial groups. Photosynthesis genes from the cyanobacterium Roseofilum reptotaenium were highly expressed during the

Efficient in vivo targeting of the myocardial scar using Moloney murine leukaemia virus complexed with nanoparticles

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 4, Page 1708-1735, 15 February 2026.
Abstract figure legend The complexation of Moloney murine leukaemia virus (MMLV) with magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) greatly enhanced the transduction of (myo)fibroblasts (FB), when applied in a magnetic field, both in vitro and in vivo in cryoinjured mice.

A selective breeding design based on parental rapid heat stress thresholds did not produce more heat‐tolerant coral larvae

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 1, January–March 2026.
Coral broodstock were phenotyped using a rapid heat stress assay and ranked according to their performance (photochemical efficiency). Selectively breeding the broodstock based on their performance did not produce larvae with enhanced heat tolerance. Created in BioRender. Lamb, A. (2025) https://BioRender.com/zcgk0g6.
