Immunological cross-reactions among gadidae parvalbumins

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1975
Abstract Antisera raised against apparently homogeneous whiting parvalbumin III have been found to recognize two non cross-reacting molecular species of parvalbumins. Aliquots of these antisera have been separately absorbed with two distinct parvalbumins from a near-related fish species, namely haddock parvalbumins II and III, and also with the ...

Cytological studies in Gadidae (Pisces) [PDF]

open access: yesHereditas, 2009
Six species belonging to the family Gadidae have been studied cytologically. Gadus morhua has 2n = 46, Micromesistius poutassou 2n = 44, Pollachius pollachius 2n = 38, Pollachius virens 2n = 40, Raniceps raninus 2n = 48 and Trisopterus minutus 2n = 48. Preparations were made from kidney tissue of all species studied.

Sex‐specific somatic–otolith growth relationship in two Gadidae

Journal of Fish Biology, 2008
Otolith and somatic mass of two Gadidae (Merlangius merlangus and Trisopterus minutus) were compared in order to analyse the sex‐specific relationship between otolith and somatic growth at age. In the present study, otolith mass appeared a reliable indicator of age in both species.

Satellites and rapidly reassociating fractions in the DNA of Gadidae (codfishes)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1974
Abstract 1. 1. The DNA of all six species of Gadidae (cofishes) investigated contained at least one satellite component, revealed by isopycnic centrifugation either in CsCl or in Cs 2 SO 4 solutions containing Ag + or Hg 2+ . 2. 2. The unfractionated DNA of three species investigated in this regard contained 30–40 per cent of a rapidly ...
