The Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 2, February 2026.Finite mixture models revealed that older, larger harbor seals specialize in salmon predation at setnets in Hokkaido, Japan, suggesting targeted management strategies focusing on these specialist individuals could effectively reduce fishery conflicts while protecting the broader seal population.
