In-depth study of the synthesis of polyamides in the melt using biacetal derivatives of galactaric acid

Polymer Degradation and Stability, 2018
In recent years, the incorporation of sugar-derived, cyclic moieties into polymer structures is gaining the interest of researchers and industry. Factors like the general availability of carbohydrate sources and the unique properties of polymers therefrom contribute to their popularity, but on the other hand the presence of additional functional groups

Development of a sustainable approach to produce galactaric acid from sunflower heads by engineered Pseudomonas putida KT2440

Bioresource Technology
Upgrading of agricultural inferior resources to produce bio-based chemicals through biotechnological approaches has gained considerable attention in recent years. Galactaric acid (GA), serving as an intriguing building block for a series of polymers, can be synthesized from d-galacturonic acid (GalA) stemmed from agricultural waste, but the biological ...

Complex Formation of Copper(II) Ions with Galactaric Acid

Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2004
Complex formation of copper(II) ions with the galactarate ion [Gala]2- in aqueous solution was studied by means of potentiometric titration. Stability constants of the [CuGala] and [Cu(Gala)2]2- complexes were determined. A complex compound was synthesized electrochemically and isolated from a DMSO solution containing a copper(II) salt and galactaric ...

Synthesis and characterization of copolyanhydrides of carbohydrate-based galactaric acid and adipic acid

Carbohydrate Research, 2015
A series of copolyanhydrides, consisting of 2,3,4,5-tetra-O-acetylgalactaric acid (AGA) and adipic acid (AA) as monomer units, was polymerized. Synthesis of AGA monomer consisted of two steps. First, O-acetylation of galactaric acid secondary hydroxyl groups was performed using acetic anhydride as a reagent.

One-step Synthesis of Dibutyl Furandicarboxylates from Galactaric Acid

Chemistry Letters, 2007
Abstract Dibutyl 2,5-furandicarboxylate (2) and dibutyl 2,3-furandicarboxylate (3) were synthesized using one step from galactaric acid and 1-butanol. Sulfuric acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, and heteropolyacids were good catalysts for the reaction.

The Structures and Hydrogen Bonding Networks in Crystals of Alkylenediammonium Salts of Galactaric Acid

Journal of Carbohydrate Chemistry, 2009
The crystal structures of five alkylenediammonium galactarates (1– 5) were determined because the information from these structures may provide some insight into the solid state structures of the poly(alkylene galactaramides) derived from these salts. In each case the meso-galactarate anion is in the extended conformation. In four out of the five cases

ESR and NMR study of galacturonic and galactaric acids complex formation in solution

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2003
The complexation of copper(II) with D-galacturonic (HGal) and galactaric acids (H2Gala) was investigated by the ESR method in aqua and DMSO solutions. The spin Hamiltonian parameters, the complex composition and its structure were determined. The complexation of f-elements (Pr, Nd) with the same ligands was investigated by NMR 1H.
