Galactomannan antigenemia in invasive aspergillosis [PDF]
Galactomannan (GM) extracted from mycelia of Aspergillus fumigatus with cold dilute alkali reacted with antiserum specific for an antigen that circulated in invasive aspergillosis in rabbits and humans. The GM was purified by its affinity for concanavalin A and was separated from a nonantigenic glucan by gel permeation on Sephacryl S-200.

Aspergillus coinfection in critically Ill patients with severe dengue
In 2014–2015, a significant outbreak of dengue fever occurred in southern Taiwan, with a subsequent decline in dengue incidence. Despite this, there is emerging concern about virus-associated aspergillosis, yet limited research has explored coinfections ...

Makapuno Coconut: A Potential New Commercial Source of Galactomannan
Novel uses of Makapuno mutant coconut were explored. The focus was on the endosperm, which is rich in galactomannan as compared with that of the normal coconut.

Upgrading the Nutritional Value of PKC Using a Bacillus subtilis Derived Monocomponent β-Mannanase
Palm kernel cake (PKC) is an abundant side stream that can only be added to non-ruminant feed in small concentrations due to its content of antinutritional factors, mainly galactomannan, which cannot be digested by non-ruminants.

Galactomannan use in clinical practice: providing free testing is not the full answer
Introduction: Invasive aspergillosis is a condition associated with a high mortality rate mostly due to difficulties in performing an early diagnosis. In recent years, galactomannan detection has markedly improved the diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis,

The general aim of this research was to optimise textural properties and to evaluate the possibility of producing ultra-filtrated low-fat cheese (7-9 % (w/w)), containing various concentrations of galactomannan and Novagel (0.1-0.5 % w/w), and assessing ...

Investigating plant galactomannans [PDF]
AbstractThis paper presents a review of biological importance and occurrence of galactomannan in plants. Its chemical composition and structure are reviewed, and a short laboratory practical exercise on the isolation and determination of D‐mannose/D‐galactose ratio of plant galactomannan is presented.

Using Synthetic Glycans to Investigate Anti‐Glycan Antibodies and Explore Their Medical Potential
Anti‐glycan antibodies are essential in health and disease. Access to novel glycan structures paves the way for progress in antibody profiling for biomarker discovery, antibody development, and vaccine design. We summarize the strategies to synthesize and utilize synthetic glycans for the development and application of anti‐glycan antibodies in basic ...
