Models of Late-type Disk Galaxies: 1-D Versus 2-D
We investigate the effects of stochasticity on the observed galaxy parameters by comparing our stochastic star formation two-dimensional (2-D) galaxy evolution models with the commonly used one-dimensional (1-D) models with smooth star formation. The 2-D

We present a new set of multi-million particle SPH simulations of the formation of disk dominated galaxies in a cosmological context. Some of these galaxies are higher resolution versions of the models already described in Governato et al (2007).

Disk Galaxies and Galaxy Disks [PDF]
The conference Galaxy Disks and Disk Galaxies, sponsored by the Vatican Observatory, was held in June 12-16, 2000 at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome (Italy). The meeting hosted about 230 participants coming from 30 countries. The very full program consisted of 29 review papers, 34 invited talks, and more than 180 posters.

A key question in galaxy evolution has been the importance of the apparent “clumpiness” of high-redshift galaxies. Until now, this property has been primarily investigated in rest-frame UV, limiting our understanding of their relevance.

GALAXY DISKS ARE SUBMAXIMAL [PDF]
We measure the contribution of galaxy disks to the overall gravitational potential of 30 nearly face-on intermediate-to-late-type spirals from the DiskMass Survey. The central vertical velocity dispersion of the disk stars, sigma(z,R=0), is related to the maximum rotation speed (Vmax) as sigma(z,R=0) ~ 0.26 Vmax, consistent with previous measurements ...

Tilted Dark Halos Are Common and Long-lived, and Can Warp Galactic Disks
In the Lambda cold dark matter paradigm, the dark halo governs the gravitational potential within which a galaxy can form and evolve. In this Letter we show that the present-day inner ( r < 50 kpc) dark halo can be significantly misaligned with the ...

XUE: Molecular Inventory in the Inner Region of an Extremely Irradiated Protoplanetary Disk
We present the first results of the eXtreme UV Environments (XUE) James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) program, which focuses on the characterization of planet-forming disks in massive star-forming regions.
