The Environmental Dependence of the Evolving S0 Fraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We reinvestigate the dramatic rise in the S0 fraction, f_S0, within clusters since z ~ 0.5. In particular, we focus on the role of the global galaxy environment on f_S0 by compiling, either from our own observations or the literature, robust line-of ...

Combined Effects of Galaxy Interactions and Large-Scale Environment on Galaxy Properties

open access: yes, 2008
We inspect the coupled dependence of physical parameters of the SDSS galaxies on the small-scale (distance to and morphology of the nearest neighbor galaxy) and the large-scale (background density smoothed over 20 nearby galaxies) environments.

Deep Neutral Hydrogen Observations of the Early-type Galaxy NGC 2768: Collided by a Newly Discovered Satellite Galaxy?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the results of a deep neutral hydrogen (H i ) observation of the early-type galaxy NGC 2768 using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST).

A Comprehensive Perturbative Formalism for Phase Mixing in Perturbed Disks. II. Phase Spirals in an Inhomogeneous Disk Galaxy with a Nonresponsive Dark Matter Halo

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We develop a linear perturbative formalism to compute the response of an inhomogeneous stellar disk embedded in a nonresponsive dark matter (DM) halo to various perturbations like bars, spiral arms, and encounters with satellite galaxies.

Galactic PeV Neutrinos

open access: yes, 2013
IceCube experiment has detected two neutrinos with energies beween 1-10 PeV. They might have originated from Galactic or extragalactic sources of cosmic rays.

Scale Interactions and Galaxy Evolution [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2003
To understand galaxies and their evolution, it is necessary to describe how the different scales interact: how the microscopic physics, such as star formation, or the large scale physics, such as galaxy interactions may modify the galaxy global shapes.

Triazine‐Trione Thermosets with High Processability for Scaffold Applications in Bone Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Novel photo‐clickable triazine‐trione thermosets can be shaped and cured under mild conditions, including room and physiological temperatures. These materials are biocompatible and support osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells on their surface.

The Effect of Galaxy Interactions on Starbursts in Milky Way-mass Galaxies in FIRE Simulations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Simulations and observations suggest that galaxy interactions may enhance the star formation rate (SFR) in merging galaxies. One proposed mechanism is the torque exerted on the gas and stars in the larger galaxy by the smaller galaxy.

Tidal Effects in Clusters of Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
High-redshift clusters of galaxies show an over-abundance of spirals by a factor of 2-3, and the corresponding under-abundance of S0 galaxies, relative to the nearby clusters.

Bar-spheroid interaction in galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1992
The secular evolution of barred galaxies is explored using N-body simulation and linear analysis. In particular, we examine the interaction between bars and spheroidal components of galaxies. According to our calculations, this interaction drives secular transfer of angular momentum from bars to spheroids, primarily through resonant coupling.
