PROBES. I. A Compendium of Deep Rotation Curves and Matched Multiband Photometry

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2022
We present the Photometry and Rotation Curve Observations from Extragalactic Surveys (PROBES) compendium of extended rotation curves for 3163 late-type spirals, with matching homogeneous multiband photometry for 1677 of them.

The extinction curve of the lensing galaxy of B1152+199 at z=0.44 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present UBVRIz' photometry of the gravitational lens candidate CLASS B1152+119 obtained with the Nordic Optical Telescope. The two QSO components are resolved in the B, V, R, I and z' bands confirming the lensing nature of the system.

Human Eye Visualization With an Attention Mechanism: Enhancing Flower Detection and Classification With Visual Attention and Photometric Principles Inspired by Human Vision

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates a flower classification model relying on the human visual system. The model captures images, simulates visual attention and photometric perception, extracts features of shape and color, and classifies flowers by using an optimized neural network that enhances recognition accuracy by mimicking the human eye's focusing ...

Bayesian Posteriors with Stellar Population Synthesis on GPUs

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
Models of Stellar Population Synthesis (SPS) provide a predictive framework for the spectral energy distribution (SED) of a galaxy. SPS predictions can be computationally intensive, creating a bottleneck for attempts to infer the physical properties of ...

Classifying Astronomical Transients Using Only Host Galaxy Photometry

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory will discover tens of thousands of extragalactic transients each night. The high volume of alerts demands immediate classification of transient types in order to prioritize ...

Al‐Khadhaf: The first camera‐observed (H5–6) meteorite fall from Oman

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 3, Page 522-547, March 2026.
Abstract A fireball camera system installed in 2022 by the Oman Meteorite Monitoring Project (OMMP) as part of the Global Fireball Observatory (GFO) recorded a 3.2 s fireball on March 8, 2022 at 8:15 p.m. UTC. A meteoroid of 4 ± 2 kg entered the atmosphere at 14.0 km/s.

One Galaxy Sample to Rule Them All: Halo Occupation Distribution Modeling of DES Year 3 Source Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
For the joint analysis of second-order weak-lensing and galaxy clustering statistics, so-called 3 × 2 analyses, the selection and characterization of optimal galaxy samples is a major area of research.

Stellar Archaeology in the Galactic halo with the Ultra-Faint Dwarfs: VI. Ursa Major II

open access: yes, 2012
We present a B, V color-magnitude diagram (CMD) of the Milky Way dwarf satellite Ursa Major II (UMa II), spanning the magnitude range from V ~ 15 to V ~ 23.5 mag and extending over a 18 {\times} 18 arcmin2 area centered on the galaxy. Our photometry goes
