Herschel Far-Infrared and Sub-millimeter Photometry for the KINGFISH Sample of Nearby Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
New far-infrared and sub-millimeter photometry from the Herschel Space Observatory is presented for 61 nearby galaxies from the Key Insights on Nearby Galaxies: A Far-Infrared Survey with Herschel (KINGFISH) sample.

Surface photometry of shell galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1986
We present CCD surface photometry in four passbands of shells around three bright elliptical galaxies, NGC 2865, NGC 3923 and NGC 5018. Colors, profiles across the shells, and the precise geometry of the shells are determined. The observations all favor a merger process as the origin of the shells, and the colors are consistent with those of a recently

Reassessing the Relationship Between Meteor Radio Afterglows and Optical Persistent Trains

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Meteor radio afterglows (MRAs) and optical persistent trains (PTs) are two types of long‐lived phenomena which are occasionally observed following the occurrence of a meteor. Both phenomena are thought to be produced by intrinsic emission mechanisms; PTs have been associated with chemiluminescent reactions between meteoric metals and ...

Photo-z Estimation with Normalizing Flow

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Accurate photometric redshift (photo- z ) estimation is a key challenge in cosmology, as uncertainties in photo- z directly limit the scientific return of large-scale structure and weak lensing studies, especially in upcoming Stage IV surveys.

A photometrically and spectroscopically confirmed population of passive spiral galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We have identified a population of passive spiral galaxies from photometry and integral field spectroscopy. We selected z < 0.035 spiral galaxies that have WISE colours consistent with little mid-infrared emission from warm dust.

pop-cosmos: A Comprehensive Picture of the Galaxy Population from COSMOS Data

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We present pop-cosmos : a comprehensive model characterizing the galaxy population, calibrated to 140,938 ( r < 25 selected) galaxies from the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS) with photometry in 26 bands from the ultraviolet to the infrared. We construct

Surface Photometry of Spiral Galaxy NGC 5005 and Elliptical Galaxy NGC 4278

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2018
Two galaxies have been chosen, spiral galaxy NGC 5005 and elliptical galaxy NGC 4278 to study their photometric properties by using surface photometric techniques with griz-Filters. Observations are obtained from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS).

Young Star Clusters in the Dwarf Irregular Galaxy, UGC 7636, Interacting with the Giant Elliptical Galaxy NGC 4472 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present integrated Washington CT1 photometry of 18 bright blue objects discovered in the dwarf galaxy UGC 7636 which is located 5'.5 southeast of the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4472, the brightest galaxy in the Virgo cluster.

A Slowly Pulsating Run‐Away B Star at High Galactic Latitude Ejected From a Spiral Arm

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 346, Issue 5, June 2025.
ABSTRACT We report the discovery of the young B6 V run‐away star LAMOST J083323.18 + 430825.4, 2.5 kpc above the Galactic plane. Its atmospheric parameters and chemical composition are determined from LAMOST spectra, indicating normal composition. Effective temperature (Teff$$ {T}_{\mathrm{eff}} $$ = 14,500$$ \mathrm{14,500} $$ K) and gravity (logg ...
