KNaCaSi4O10 Obtained From Crystallization Experiments in the Quaternary System K2O–Na2O–CaO–SiO2

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
The compound KNaCaSi4O10 has been identified in crystallization experiments of glasses in the quaternary system K2O–Na2O–CaO–SiO2 and has undergone structural characterization. Vibrational spectroscopic data have been acquired and interpreted using density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Magellan Spectroscopy of Active Galactic Nuclei in Low-mass Galaxies: Scaling Relations and a Triple-peaked Active Galactic Nucleus

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this work, we aim to further populate the low-mass regime of black hole (BH) scaling relations to better understand the formation and growth mechanisms of central supermassive BHs. We target six galaxies that have been previously identified as hosting

Shock metamorphic effects in Itokawa phosphates: A comparison with megaregolith‐derived meteorites

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 3, Page 351-370, March 2026.
Abstract Returned regolith samples from the asteroid Itokawa provide a unique opportunity to compare shock metamorphic effects in unconsolidated regolith materials with those preserved in lithified meteorites, that is, megaregolith. We analyzed four Itokawa particles (Ueda—RA‐QD02‐0519, Narahara—RA‐QD02‐0573, Domon—RA‐QD02‐0588, Ishiuchi—RX‐MD03‐0212 ...

Gravitational lensing reveals cool gas within 10-20 kpc around a quiescent galaxy

open access: yesCommunications Physics
While quiescent galaxies have comparable amounts of cool gas in their outer circumgalactic medium (CGM) compared to star-forming galaxies, they have significantly less interstellar gas.

IC 4200: a gas-rich early-type galaxy formed via a major merger

open access: yes, 2006
We present the result of radio and optical observations of the S0 galaxy IC 4200. We find that the galaxy hosts 8.5 billion solar masses of HI rotating on a ~90 deg warped disk extended out to 60 kpc from the centre of the galaxy.

Al‐Khadhaf: The first camera‐observed (H5–6) meteorite fall from Oman

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 3, Page 522-547, March 2026.
Abstract A fireball camera system installed in 2022 by the Oman Meteorite Monitoring Project (OMMP) as part of the Global Fireball Observatory (GFO) recorded a 3.2 s fireball on March 8, 2022 at 8:15 p.m. UTC. A meteoroid of 4 ± 2 kg entered the atmosphere at 14.0 km/s.

Star Formation under a Cosmic Microscope: Highly Magnified z = 11 Galaxy behind the Bullet Cluster

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present measurements of stellar population properties of a newly discovered, spectroscopically confirmed, $z=11.1{0}_{-0.26}^{+0.11}$ , gravitationally lensed galaxy, using JWST NIRSpec PRISM spectroscopy and NIRCam imaging.

Biochemical characterization of xyloglucan galactosyltransferases MUR3 and XLT2 from Spirodela polyrhiza

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 125, Issue 5, March 2026.
SUMMARY Glycosyltransferases (GTs) are the primary enzymes responsible for the biosynthesis of the complex polysaccharides in plant cell walls. Given the important role of GTs in plants, it is necessary to undertake their functional characterization to better understand plant cell wall synthesis pathways to develop improved feedstocks for efficient ...
