A Massive Quiescent Galaxy in a Group Environment at z = 4.53

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report on the spectroscopic confirmation of a massive quiescent galaxy at z _spec = 4.53 in the COSMOS field. The object was first identified as a galaxy with suppressed star formation at z _phot ∼ 4.65 from the COSMOS2020 catalog.

Morphology and Kinematics of the Gas in M51: How Interaction with NGC 5195 Has Molded the Structure of Its Arms

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Whirlpool Galaxy is a well-studied grand design galaxy with two major spiral arms, and a large satellite NGC 5195. The arms both show long uniform sections with perturbations (“kinks” or sharp turns) in specific regions.

Star Formation at the Epoch of Reionization with CANUCS: The Ages of Stellar Populations in MACS1149-JD1

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present measurements of stellar populations properties of a z = 9.1 gravitationally lensed galaxy MACS1149-JD1 using deep James Webb Space Telescope NIRISS slitless spectroscopy as well as NIRISS and NIRCam imaging from the CAnadian NIRISS Unbiased ...

X-ray Spectroscopy of Galaxy Clusters

open access: yes, 2009
Galaxy clusters, the largest clearly defined objects in our Universe, are ideal laboratories to study in detail the cosmic evolution of the intergalactic intracluster medium (ICM) and the cluster galaxy population. For the ICM, which is heated to X-ray radiating temperatures, X-ray spectroscopy is the most important tool to obtain insight into the ...

RUBIES Reveals a Massive Quiescent Galaxy at z = 7.3

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report the spectroscopic discovery of a massive quiescent galaxy at z _spec  = 7.29 ± 0.01, just  ∼700 Myr after the big bang. RUBIES-UDS-QG-z7 was selected from public JWST/NIRCam and MIRI imaging from the PRIMER survey and observed with JWST/NIRSpec

EFOSC2 Spectroscopy of SWIRE-CDFS Galaxies

open access: yes, 2010
We present the optical spectra of a sample of 34 SWIRE-CDFS sources observed with EFOSC2 on the ESO 3.6m Telescope. We have used the spectra and spectroscopic redshifts to validate our photometric redshift codes and SED template fitting methods. 12 of our sources are Infrared Luminous Galaxies.

The Star-forming Main Sequence in JADES and CEERS at z > 1.4: Investigating the Burstiness of Star Formation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We have used public JWST/NIRSpec and JWST/NIRCam observations from the CEERS and JADES surveys in order to analyze the star-forming main sequence (SFMS) over the redshift range 1.4 ≤ z < 7.

CANUCS/Technicolor Data Release 1: Imaging, Photometry, Slit Spectroscopy, and Stellar Population Parameters

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We present the first data release of the Canadian NIRISS Unbiased Cluster Survey (CANUCS), a JWST Cycle 1 GTO program targeting five lensing clusters and flanking fields in parallel (A370, MACS0416, MACS0417, MACS1149, and MACS1423; survey area ∼100 ...

Ruling out Conventional Photoionization Models in the Closest LINER, M31, with CFHT/SITELLE Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The ionization mechanisms of low-ionization nuclear emission-line regions (LINERs), which are common in the local Universe, have been debated for decades.
